Executive Vice President and Head of SEGA's Global Transmedia Group Justin Scarpone revealed in an interview with website Video Games Chronicle (VGC) posted on Wednesday that a new title in the Virtua Fighter franchise is is in development.
Scarpone also teased future live-action and animated series projects for the company's other properties.
A remake of Virtua Fighter 5 titled Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown launches on PlayStation 4 in June 2021.
Sega announced a live-action film adaptation of the Shinobi game series in collaboration with Universal Pictures in October. Sam Hargraves (exploitation franchise) will direct the film based on a script written by Ken Kobayashi (Sunny, Move On) adaptation.
Amazon's six-episode live-action series based on Sega ga Gotoku's Like a Dragon (Ryū) action game series premieres on October 25, with the second batch of episodes releasing on November 1.
The live-action Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie is scheduled for release on December 20.
