Urusei Yatsura Season 2 Episode 5 Overview
Urusei Yatsura returns to breathe new life into the “boy meets extraordinary girl” genre. This anime masterpiece combines elements of comedy, romance and science fiction, enriched with countless funny jokes.
Once again, the series boasts a trio of talented directors at the helm. Among them is Takahashi Hideya, famous for his contributions to Sword Art Online, Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru, To LOVE-Ru, and more. Other directors include Kamei Takahiro, known for his work on Enen no Shouboutai, Captain Tsubasa (2018) and others, as well as Kimura Yasuhiro, who lent his expertise to Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic mine.
Episode 5 of Urusei Yatsura Part 2 can also be called the 5th episode of うる星やつら第2期.
I’ve tried my best to keep the review as spoiler-free as possible, but there are certain elements that I have to cover in order to give a proper response.

Urusei Yatsura Part 2 Episode 5 Review and Recap – Ataru wants to change locations
The hilarity continues with this episode as we see the aftermath of Mendo meeting his fiancé for the first time. The episode opens with him having the most beautiful dream of his life, which is to enter a harem full of women and be asked to marry by all the girls in the Urusei Yatsura anime. But soon, that dream turned into a nightmare when his fiance, who he thought looked hideous because of her metal armor, married him, and everyone else just cheered.
Mendo wakes up and decides enough is enough; he would annul the marriage after meeting her. But that certainly didn’t happen because his father forced him to get engaged on the very day he met his woman. Thankfully, he’s surrounded by very helpful friends who certainly wouldn’t think of switching places with him, Ataru being an exception.
Ataru, Lum and Shinobu came to save Mendo because Lum and Shinobu thought they were doing well. Only later do they understand why Ataru was interested in helping his archenemy. There is an extremely cute girl inside an armor that is only afraid of men. And not only that, her Androphobia became worse after Ataru rushed at her with his perverse intentions.
Things became completely chaotic when Mendo also discovered that his fiance was not ugly at all but very beautiful. Now, they must reach this new woman without forcing her to defeat them, because she is stronger than anyone.
This episode is again very funny and very random, as you would expect from Urusei Yatsura. You can’t really expect a single moment of sanity from this series, as nothing goes as you expect. The characters are crazy and they do bizarre things without even blinking an eye. If you want something light and humorous after a hard day at work, this is the series for you. You don’t have to be serious to enjoy this, nor do you need to understand the intricacies of the plot. And the best part? Every episode feels like a new episode.
Verdict
In this episode, Ataru tries to be discreet again and thinks that no one will notice if he can just switch places with Mendo. He’s truly a despicable man, but that makes him strangely lovable and his antics are hilarious.
I expect the next episode to be just as interesting.
