Re:Zero Part 3 Review episode 5: Another episode from Re:Zero Season 3 or Re:ゼロから始める異世界生活 (Ri:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu) showed how much people don't want to be the main character of this series. Let's see how this episode plays out.
Re:Zero Part 3 Summary of episode 4
Garf and Mimi stumble across the chaotic city, quickly finding themselves entangled in its chaos. They encounter two powerful members of the Witch Cult, both of whom pose a serious threat. Realizing their disadvantage, Mimi begged Garf not to engage in an all-out war but instead focus on holding them off, allowing enough time to find a way out. With this cautious plan they get involved, but things quickly get complicated. Mimi is seriously injured and a panicked Garf rushes her back to safety for treatment.
Across the city, a similar scene played out as residents faced relentless attacks from the Sinful Archbishops, who descended with destruction in mind. Among them, the most prominent is the Archbishop of Lust, whose followers were responsible for the attack on Mimi. In response, the city's key figures, including Subaru, convene to strategize their next move.
Subaru finds himself in a dilemma: he feels compelled to approach Emilia but cannot ignore the destruction around him. He is determined to solve the problem posed by Lust before pursuing her. Complicating matters further, Lust demands the Witch's remains, an ultimatum Subaru learns from Kiritaka. Kiritaka reveals that although the ruins are actually within the city, they power the infrastructure and removing them will lead to its collapse.
Re:Zero Season 3 Episode 5 Review
The episode begins with a bizarre question that Emilia is suddenly asked by Regulus while naked in an unfamiliar environment. She was as confused as we were when the Sinful Archbishop of Greed vehemently asked if she was a virgin or not. To his delight, she was a virgin, and this sealed her fate of becoming his 79th wife, whether she wanted it or not. However, this is not the worst fate one can encounter in this anime.
On the other hand, we see a very angry Subaru trying to restrain himself from confronting Lye, the person responsible for Rem's situation. Subaru must not waste time on the Sinful Gluttony Archbishop and instead focus on Capella, who is proving to be the bigger threat at the moment. He therefore proceeds to confront her along with Crusch but finds a pitiful hostage there as well. Sadly, this story has never been kind to Subaru, and this time it doesn't spare our protagonist either.
In this episode, we are once again reminded how brutal this series can be, where human lives mean nothing in the eyes of very cruel villains. In particular, Capella is especially cruel when torturing his victims by transforming into their relatives before toying with them. Her blood also has the ability to transform anyone into any creature, and this she uses freely for the sole purpose of causing pain.
Other than this, the situation with everyone else is more or less the same. The entire city of Priestella is under attack and no one is attacked by the Sinful Archbishops. They will not stop until they meet their demands, one of which is the successful completion of the wedding between Emilia and Regulus.
Verdict
This episode is bloody, gory, and truly unforgiving. Subaru goes through so many traumatic events that it makes you wish for his death so he can travel back in time and escape his impending death. Not once do you feel bored with all the events going on, and this proves how intense and interesting this anime is.
