The problem on the APG undersea fiber optic cable line appeared from the end of 2022 and so far, new errors have been continuously generated, although the old ones have not been fixed yet, making it impossible to return to normal operation.
Recently, a representative of an Internet service provider in Vietnam said that a new problem has been discovered on branches S1.9 and S9 of the Asia Pacific Gateway – APG route connecting to Vietnam. Therefore, the restoration schedule of this cable line has been postponed.
Earlier in June, APG also had problems on the S1.7 branch, affecting capacity on the cable line. Currently, on this cable route, there are three unresolved problems, so the Internet capacity connecting from Vietnam to Singapore is lost.
However, according to the carrier representative, this problem does not have a great impact on users. Internet service providers in the country have had solutions to overcome such as transferring capacity through the land cable or leveling the load, experiencing previous cable breaks, especially when all five cable lines at the beginning of the year.
With the incident in June, the APG cable management unit intends to complete the repair on the S1.7 branch by the end of August, then move back to early September. However, with two new incidents, the schedule is fixed. Specific services have not yet been released by the management unit.
