The Fall 2023 anime broadcast was very successful with many impressive names debuting, with about 40 new anime episodes every week. This anime season is like a buffet with many options, where each dish promises a new adventure.
Due to the time constraints we all face, prioritizing which anime to watch is essential. After all, not everyone can spend hours watching all the new anime releases as they air.
So choosing the “best” anime of the season becomes an important but subjective exercise. This selection is mainly based on objective evaluation data of MyAnimeList scores and the number of people watching the movies.
10 – Tearmoon Empire
MyAnimeList score: 7.42
The story of the Tearmoon empire stands out in the Fall 2023 Anime series as an isekai show that offers something new. Inspired by the French Revolution, the anime presented a fascinating story. The main character, Mia Luna, after being executed, woke up as a young woman, she had a second chance to not only save herself, but also lead the country of Tearmoon to a better future.
The most surprising aspect of this anime is that it is very funny despite its dark content. Mia, with her selfish yet lovable actions, is a compelling protagonist. The supporting characters, although not too prominent, complement Mia’s journey very well.

The second season of Spy x Family continues to attract audiences by mixing comedy and action elements. While the first season perhaps didn’t give Yor as much attention as Anya or Loid, the new season corrects that mistake, giving Yor more center stage.
This season mainly consists of stand-alone episodes, which although they don’t advance the main plot much, are each entertaining in their own way. With the promise of a more substantial storyline, this season is positioned to determine success or failure based on how the story develops.
7 – Shangri-La Frontier
MyAnimeList score: 8.01
This is an anime that captures the essence of an MMORPG without making things too complicated. Protagonist Rakuro immerses himself in a virtual game world that, unlike many anime of the genre, does not involve being stuck in the game, thus removing any real tension from the battles.
However, this does not take away the fun of the battles, which are inherently cartoonish. Anime stands out by building a meaningful world within the context of an MMORPG, increasing the sense of immersion and enjoyment while watching the film.
6 – Undead Unluck
MyAnimeList score: 7.94
Undead Unluck offers a fresh and dynamic world where special abilities shape the fate of the characters. Protagonist Fuuko, cursed with the ability to spread misfortune, finds an unexpected companion named Andy, an immortal being.
