Author Yoshihiro Togashi has created legendary manga series like Yu Yu Hakusho and Hunter x Hunter, and his recent social media posts have fans of both stories excited.
These series have seen a resurgence in popularity in recent years, and new fans following Togashi's action-packed yet emotionally complex storylines have been getting exciting updates, including news of the return of Hunter x Hunter and new information on Yu Yu Hakusho's manga.
Yu Yu Hakusho's story ended in the early 90s but continued to be popular, thanks in part to its excellent anime series. Togashi began publishing the Hunter x Hunter manga years later, and although it went on hiatus several times, it would soon resume.
The author's health has prevented him from releasing chapters consistently, but a series of positive updates from Togashi's X account shows that fans have a lot to look forward to.
As before, Togashi's X account has been sharing updates on the progress of new Hunter x Hunter chapters. He posts pictures of the page numbers of the new chapters, showing that he's getting better. Almost every day in July 2024, he's been posting pictures showing the progress of upcoming chapters and some new colored artwork from both Hunter x Hunter and Yu Yu Hakusho.
Hunter x Hunter's Togashi Reveals New Chapter and Reflects on Yu Yu Hakusho Amid Improving Health
Manga creation is a very difficult profession, especially for those who publish weekly in Shōnen Jump. Hunter x Hunter released chapters weekly for many of its first years, but since 2006, it has been released sporadically, with breaks sometimes lasting more than a year.
Severe and chronic back problems were the main reason for Togashi's hiatus, but multiple updates on his social media accounts showed that he was still well enough to treat his fans in various ways.
In addition to promising developments for new Hunter x Hunter chapters, Togashi has also posted redrawn and recolored characters and artwork from Yu Yu Hakusho. While it may be too optimistic to expect new Yu Yu Hakusho content, it's nice to know that this beloved series is on Togashi's mind as he works on new Hunter x Hunter chapters.
Yu Yu Hakusho has gained more fans since the anime ended, thanks to its availability on popular streaming platforms and the success of Netflix's live-action adaptation. Compared to Hunter x Hunter, Yu Yu Hakusho lacks the complex power system and deep message of Togashi's latest series.
While Togashi continues to develop the world of Hunter x Hunter, it's nice to know that his health allows him the time and energy to reminisce about Yu Yu Hakusho, a series that remains a favorite among many longtime fans.
