Review and summary of episode 5 of The Witch And The Beast – Obsession with red hair
Today, we get to see the second part of the necromancy episode and finally meet the evil magician who is using his powers to use the souls of the dead for his own purposes. Apparently, he had a lover who burned to death, and instead of mourning her, he decided to resurrect her soul even though he knew how bad the consequences could be.
His obsession deepens as we see him targeting only redheads, especially women. He even made statues from many corpses that he could not preserve properly.
At the beginning of the episode, we learned why necromancy is such a dangerous procedure. There is a good reason why you must ask permission from the person you will perform the necromancy with or from their relatives.
Once someone is called back from the dead, they are denied the opportunity to reincarnate. After being temporarily restored to their bodies, they will eventually die a second time and forever float in the eternal void.
Even after knowing this, the evil magician performed a lot of necromancy and didn’t even put any effort into it because performing a proper necromancy took a lot of energy. So he only used souls and corpses for his own experiments and he did all this just because he craved beautiful things.
Now, he wants Phanora’s body because of her beauty. And this is where he makes miscalculations because Phanora is not your typical necromancer.
Not only her, but even Yohan is not as weak as he first appeared. There is a reason why Phanora and Yohan are called the greatest necromancers the Order of Magical Resonance has to offer.
This episode is again dark and mysterious with lots of bloodshed and gore. I like that they don’t shy away from these and maintain a dark atmosphere with sinister themes.
Verdict
I liked this episode, but don’t expect too much from this series. So far, it’s been a pretty good watch and has a very simple but engaging plot. If you like the Gothic feel and are interested in mysteries, give this series a try.
