With over 1100 chapters and nearly 30 years of hard work, Eiichiro Oda has made One Piece one of the mainstays of the shonen manga genre.
Oda's masterpiece has so many plots and stories that it is difficult for fans to choose their favorite part. However, it has never been difficult for Oda. The author chose his favorite scene from the story One Piece, and what's shocking is that this scene doesn't even feature main characters like Luffy or Zoro.
In 2020, Oda did an interview with Arashi and revealed his three favorite scenes in the entire One Piece story. The first one is from the Wano arc, the second one is from the Sabaody Archipelago arc, and the last one is from the Skypiea arc.
Oda's favorite scene in One Piece is the opening scene of the Wano arc, revealing the flower capital of Wano to fans and reflecting the beauty of the island that was nearly destroyed by Kaido and Kurozumi Orochi.
The Flower Capital is the most beautiful place in Wano, Oda begins this section with the main focus on the capital area, already reflecting its importance in the Wano section. Initially, Wano was ruled by Kozuki Sukiyaki, but after the machinations of Kaido and Orochi, the area came under Orochi's rule and was the only place in the entire country of Wano that prospered.
Wano holds a special place in the hearts of Oda and One Piece fans. Before starting the Wano arc, Oda repeatedly confessed that he was excited to draw this story and it certainly met fans' expectations. Not only did it reveal many new exciting aspects of the One Piece story, but it is also considered by fans to be one of the best arcs of all time.
During the interview, Eiichiro Oda confessed that although Wano's opening scene was his favorite scene in One Piece, there were two other scenes that came in second and third place on the author's list. My second favorite scene is the funny conversation between Robin and Usopp in the first part of Sabaody Archipelago.
When the Straw Hats arrived at Sabaody Archipelago, Robin discovered a tree sap oozing from the bottom of the island. Upon touching it, she realized it was sticky and wiped it off Usopp's pants, which made him extremely angry. This scene holds a special place for Oda because it brings a sense of realism to the fantasy story in One Piece.
Oda's third and final favorite scene in One Piece is the Campfire scene in the Skypiea arc. Before starting the war against Enel, the Straw Hat Pirates decided to have a good time on the island, so they held a grand party to eat, drink and celebrate around a campfire. Oda revealed that he drew the entire Skypiea arc for this particular scene.
