The livestream premiere of Make a Girl, the first anime film from 3D anime creator Gensho Yasuda, debuted its first trailer with English subtitles and teaser visuals on Wednesday. Wednesday’s event and the first teaser both announced the main cast and various staff.

The teaser image, available in “light” and “dark” versions, features the tagline “Who am I really?”

Wednesday’s event also introduced Salt, a robot (co-developed by Akira) capable of assisting people in their daily lives. However, the film crew did not announce the accompanying cast.

Not only is Yasuda conceptualizing, writing the script, and directing production at his”Yasuda Gensho Studio by Xenotoon” but he is also handling the storyboard, technical direction, and CG direction. Yuichi Imaizumi is directing sound at Sonilude and Tsutomu Ueno is in charge of sound effects. Kenichiro Suehiro (Cells at Work!, The Eminence in Shadow, Goblin Slayer, Re:ZERO-Starting Life in Another World-) is composing the music. Kadokawa Animation is distributing the film.
Anime Make a Girl is based on the 3D short film “Make Love” created by Yasuda himself. The story is about a high school boy named Akira who invents an “artificial girlfriend” named Number 0. Yasuda and his Yasuda Gensho Studio are co-producing the film with 3D CG studio Xenotoon.
Yasuda launched a Campfire crowdfunding campaign for Make a Girl on August 26, 2022. The campaign has a goal of 10 million yen (about US$67,000) and ends on August 31. October 2022 for 23,730,805 yen (about US$160,000). Yasuda is aiming for a 2024 theatrical release.
Yasuda founded Yasuda Gensho Studio in 2021, after working as a CG animator for Nitroplus. His independent animated short films, created with Blender, are popular on Twitter and TikTok with a combined 5.8 million followers.
