“Where Our Blue Is” by Tatsuya Kitani — the first opening theme of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 — is a new favorite among anime fans.
Crunchyroll recently conducted a poll to find the summer lineup’s best OP, and “Where Our Blue Is” received 21% of the votes. Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead Kana-Boon’s energetic Song of the Dead took second place with 18% of the votes, followed by CLASS’ Undead Murder Farce’s “Crack-Crack-Crackle” :y with 7%. Mushoku Tensei’s “Spindle”: Longman’s Reincarnation Unemployment and Horimiya’s “Shiawase”: Omoinotake’s The Missing Pieces made the top five with 6% and 5% of the votes, respectively.
Based on the ongoing dark fantasy manga of the same name by Gege Akutami, serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump, Jujutsu Kaisen follows an athletically gifted high school student named Yuji Itadori, who becomes into a Jujutsu Mage after eating the rotten but powerful finger of Ryomen Sukuna, the undisputed King of Curses, to save his Occult Club members. The first season of the anime originally aired for 24 episodes from October 2020 to March 2021 and starred Junya Enoki (Komi Can’t Communication) as Itadori alongside Yūma Uchida (Rurouni Kenshin). and Asami Seto (Birdie Wing: Golf Girls’ Story) as his classmates Megumi Fushiguro and Nobara Kugisaki.
The first part of Jujutsu Kaisen Part 2 turns back the clock and shifts the focus away from the main trio, focusing on their teacher, Satoru Gojo – the most powerful magician in the world. The first episodes show the Six Eyes user’s time as a student at Jujutsu High, depicting tragic events in the “Hidden Inventory/Early Death” arc. Plot highlights include the brutal confrontation between Gojo and Toji Fushiguro and the inevitable defeat of Suguru Geto.
The second main arc of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 began in the most recent episode; The Shibuya Incident saw one of the story’s main villains – Kenjaku – carry out a major terrorist attack on the Tokyo ward of the same name. The battle between the Jujutsu Witch and the curses had devastating consequences for some fan-favorite characters like Kugisaki, Gojo, and Kento Nanami.
The events of the Shibuya Incident are heavily revealed in the latest opening theme for the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen — King Gnu’s “Specialz”. A no-credits version of the animated sequence has been uploaded online, meaning viewers can prepare themselves for the coming onslaught.
