The Best of Anime (BOA), one of the largest and most recognized Japanese anime and pop culture conventions in the Philippines, is scheduled to return on September 16, 2023. The event will be held at the Convention Center SMX, Mall of Asia, Pasay City. Primetrade Asia, Inc. organized this event with the Japanese Embassy in the Philippines.
After a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event’s theme was to convey and look back at memorable moments. The event is officially titled “The Best of Anime (BOA) 2023: The Reunion.” The organizers aim to “delight our loyal customers and all anime fans with excellent entertainment and performances.”

You can buy tickets to BOA 2023 through SM Ticket stores or on the SM Ticket website. Regular Tickets are PHP 410 while Premium Tickets (with Fan Meets) are PHP 1,345.

UchuSentai: NOIZ is a Japanese visual kei band famous for their energetic music and live performances as well as their eccentric and unique costumes. They are currently holding a 20th anniversary tour across Japan with band members ANGEL-TAKA (lead vocals), MASATO (guitar and vocals), KOTARO (guitar), KYO (bass) and YAMATO (drums). .
Locally, the band is famous for performing popular OPM (Original Pinoy Music) covers such as “Narda”, “Liwanag sa Dilim” and “Pinoy Ako”. They also participated in the ABS-CBN reality talent show “I Love OPM” in 2016. UchuSentai: NOIZ first appeared on The Best of Anime in 2012 and are returning guests of BOA.

Starmarie is a Japanese idol group known for their music and charm that has fascinated fans since 2008. They currently include Nozomi Kishita (Nonchan), Shino Takamori (Shinohamu), Hiroka Matsuzaki (Hiichan) and Monya Nakane (Monya). Notable performances in their discography include “Mekurumeku Yuuki” which was the ending theme song of Cardfight!! Vanguard G and “Natsu ni Nare!” for card duel!! Vanguard G NEXT. Starmarie first appeared at The Best of Anime in 2012 and has been a guest ever since.

Miura Ayme is known for voicing the amazing fifth child, Asmodeus, in the video game and otome anime series Obey Me! He also sang the opening theme songs “Sinful Indulgence”, “Celestial Ray” and “Loveless”. If you don’t know, he is the former lead singer of the visual kei rock band Ecthelion, where he was from 2013 to 2015 until starting his solo career in 2018. He has traveled and performing around the world since then, but this will be his first time in the Philippines.

Chicken Blow the Idol is a Japanese rock idol group consisting of Kazahana Assa, Touwa Mayoi, Akari Mikan and Tsubomi Ruko. The group’s theme and story is how shy and timid girls become idols on stage while using youthful rock music as their weapon of choice (weak punches are also known as “chicken punches” ) and wear clothes similar to school uniforms. The group has performed notably in various locations throughout Japan. Chicken Blow the Idol is also scheduled to hold his first major solo concert on September 26 at Zepp Shinjuku.

Pastel Mix is a J-pop idol group based in Davao that has performed various cover songs from AKB48, Love Live!, Walküre, Babymetal, etc. The group first formed in 2008 as Nyan Nyan, a cover group of the famous Japanese girl group Buono. The group is now the official performer of Ambox Events.

Anime’s best special guest cosplayers
Reika Arikawa is a cosplayer famous for her ability to accurately portray famous characters as well as her great acting skills. detailed outfit. She has been part of the rich cosplay scene in Japan for many years and has attended famous anime and pop culture events in over 50 countries around the world. Reika returns to The Best of Anime 2023 and will be holding a workshop to teach people how to properly apply cosplay makeup. There will also be a special fan meet.

AC Hernandez, an alumnus of the World Cosplay Summit (WCS) Philippines, will also conduct workshops on how to make sword props, including modeling, construction, and the use of common materials. He’ll also talk about why homemade props are better in the long run.
Hernandez is one half of the Team Namikaze team along with Jin Joson, who won the Brothers Award for Best Costume at the WCS competition in Nagoya, Japan in 2021. The Butuan-based cosplayer is also one half of Team MARCH Omega who represented the Philippines and was awarded Grand Champion in the Asian Regional Cosplay Championship during Anime Festival Asia (2011). He has also participated in stage plays such as Ballet Manila’s Ibong Adarna and the musical The Lion King (2017).
