Since its release last fall, Kagurabachi has become a huge hit. This sword fighting manga has created expectations even before it was released. Although there were some jokes made on the internet, Kagurabachi ultimately proved that the negative expectations were wrong.
The series has been an absolute success and now the author has shared how he was inspired by Naruto and Hollywood movies to create the story.
In a rare interview with Japan's Asashi channel, Takeru Hokazono revealed that Naruto is a big inspiration for him, which is evident in his previous works.
Additionally, he mentioned that movies like “John Wick” also influenced his recent work Kagurabachi. Hokazono enjoys watching Western films and admires directors such as Quentin Tarantino, David Fincher and Christopher Nolan, especially the way they handle shots and composition.
The connection between John Wick and Kagurabachi is quite clear, as both titles explore the theme of revenge. As the manga progresses, we see the character Chihiro seeking revenge for her father's death, an emotional journey so far. With its distinctive art style and engaging plot, it's no surprise that Kagurabachi became a hit.
If you don't know Kagurabachi, it's worth a try. The manga is available on the Shonen Jump and Manga Plus apps. The story follows young Chihiro, who trains to become a great swordsmith under the tutelage of his father. After a tragedy, Chihiro's life took a dark turn and now he lives to seek revenge.
