While the world anxiously waits for the return of Boruto After the hiatus, there were rumors among the fan community that a time skip was exactly what the series needed to raise it to a level of quality comparable to the original Naruto series. Before looking at the quality of Season 2, however, there are a number of unanswered, confusing, or forgotten storylines from Season 1 that need to be addressed.
Indeed, failing to adequately address these subplots will greatly reduce the effectiveness and impact of the entire story no matter how great Season 2 is. Here are ten of the most pressing storylines left over from Season 1 and that need to be addressed in Season 2 before any meaningful resolution to the conflict between Boruto and Kawaki can be reached.
10 Kara’s Robots
The villains in Boruto are very different from those in Naruto, as many of them are cyborgs or rely on some sort of advanced technology thanks to Amado’s expertise. The problem is that these characters turn out to be the most powerful characters in the series, as demonstrated by Eida and Daemon, the absurdly powerful Otsutsuki-based. Eida and Daemon weren’t the only cyborgs Amado built for Kara, there was also Delta, who was later revealed to be his daughter’s clone and was so powerful that she even hit Naruto for his money. Their abilities require further and deeper exploration in Season 2.
9 Return of Naruto and Hinata
The whole “identity switch” plot between Boruto and Kawaki begins in Chapter #77. At that time, Kawaki visited Naruto’s house to discuss his safety but then locked him and Hinata in another dimension. It was their disappearance that helped the village view Boruto as a scapegoat after Kawaki used Eida’s Omnipotent Power. However, if they returned, Naruto and Hinata would have exposed Kawaki as they were in another dimension when the Omnipotent Ability was activated, and thus they would probably not have been affected by its effects. . Kawaki will then face the conundrum of keeping the adoptive father he worships prisoner or admitting his own betrayal.
8 Sumire’s role
While Sumire leads a complete story arc in the anime series, she is largely confined to the sidelines in the manga. Aside from the fact that she is the only person besides Sarada who can resist Eida’s charms, she is irrelevant. However, as revealed in the anime, Sumire is a very powerful shinobi who has command of a yokai named Nue. Like Sarada, she also seems to have romantic feelings for Boruto, who is currently being hunted. It seems like she’s in the perfect position to do something to help him. This is especially true considering the fact that in the anime, when the entire village rallied against Sumire, Boruto stood up for her.
The Battle of the 7 Codes
Before the timeskip, Code hid in the old Kara base, off the grid, and planned revenge on Kawaki, Boruto, and Konoha. Stimulated by his vision of Isshiki’s soul, in which the former Otsutsuki leader on Earth told him he could gain God-like power if he killed Kawaki or Boruto, Code amassed an army consisting of soldiers whose chakra powers were created from the body of the Ten-Tails. Since he despises both Kawaki and Boruto, it seems unlikely that Code will take sides in their fight, but he is still expected to play a prominent role in the story, as seen in his disappointing debut. Code’s expectations in Part 2.
Amado’s 6 machines
Since his debut in Chapter #26, Amado Sanzu, Kara’s chief scientist and the man responsible for giving Delta, Kawaki, Eida, and Code their powers, has always been a mysterious figure. Long believed to be Boruto’s true main antagonist, that belief changed when he defected to Konoha and revealed that he teamed up with Isshiki only to find a way to revive his daughter. However, there is still something wrong with Amado, as it seems that a man as intelligent, secretive, and charismatic as him would have no way of overcoming Eida’s charms, which he created from the very beginning. It will be interesting to find out what other secrets Amado is hiding.
5 Involvement of Sarada
It is clear that from the first chapter of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Sarada will play a larger role in the later story. At the end of Season 1, Sarada was able to convince her father Sasuke to side with Boruto, and also unlocked the Mangekyo Sharingan. The problem is that in Season 1, Sarada is also initially portrayed as having a pivotal role in the story, only to have her sidelined for large parts. Even when she “reappears”, she only has a small impact on the larger plot. For Sumire, her potential impact on the next story could also be wasted if her involvement isn’t taken seriously.
4 Koji’s Return
Koji is one of the more interesting characters in Part 1, mainly because he is a clone of the famous Naruto character Jiraiya. However, his sudden disappearance after attempting to assassinate Jigen/Isshiki has been a mystery ever since, and was largely forgotten when the story began to focus more on the Boruto-Kawaki story – Code. However, for a character with such potential to influence the story, never being mentioned again is not only a waste of fans’ time, but also damaging to the development of the story. Hopefully Koji will also return in Two Blue Vortex.
3 The influence of Momoshiki
Boruto is now more like Otsutsuki than Uzumaki due to Momoshiki’s DNA rewriting him. Otsutsuki is now a part of Boruto’s consciousness – sometimes appearing to give advice, criticize or just make observations. In other words, he and Boruto are forever tied together. As he himself said, it is in Momoshiki’s absolute best interest to keep Boruto healthy, happy, and alive. However, the strange thing is that he seems to have caught off guard against Eida and Kawaki’s power game. Furthermore, Boruto has had three years to train, which means he can find another way to control Momoshiki’s influence. Considering that this was the entire reason Kawaki betrayed Boruto, it will be interesting to see what solution the young Uzumaki finds to this problem.
2 Eida’s Regret
In the final pages of Chapter #80, Eida met with Boruto and Sasuke, and confessed her concerns about her involvement in turning the community against Boruto. Although she admitted that there was no way to reverse her powers, she agreed to let Boruto and Sasuke hide for the time necessary for them to prepare to confront Kawaki. Considering how much she confessed to loving Kawaki, this seems like a pretty dangerous move for her. In the first chapter of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Eida also seems to be helping Sumire and Sarada figure out how the Almighty Power works, which is surprising since any action they take will be against to her declared great love, Kawaki. Eida’s ultimate betrayal could play an important role in the story.
1 Shadow of Otsutsuki
The one factor that has overshadowed almost everything in the Boruto story is the Otsutsuki clan. Kishimoto ends up providing quite detailed background information on the Otsutsuki and what they want to achieve on Earth. Otsutsuki’s scheme is the entire reason behind the fight between Boruto and Kawaki, which seems to be the main plot of Two Blue Vortex. This means that the oversized, overpowering presence of these powerful aliens isn’t over yet, although many fans find this controversial. Otsutsuki is the element that connects Boruto, Kawaki, and Code, so it will be interesting to see how big a role they will play, even if they are just shadows now.
Boruto’s return to a regular publishing schedule is certainly exciting news for fans. Indeed, in season 2, the story that will finally deal with the battle between Boruto and Kawaki over the destroyed Konoha Village is shown in the sequel to the first chapter. However, despite the previous noise Boruto: Two blue whirlwinds many remaining issues need to be addressed and properly resolved Boruto Plot part 1.
