Spy×Family 26
Summary/SPOILER Summary
Yor reports on an assassination mission, only to have one of the wounded thugs shoot her in the butt. So she returned home in great pain but could not reveal her injuries. Twilight (Loid) thinks Yor is unhappy and decides to go on a date with her. Yor agreed to the training. Twilight hires Franky to be Anya’s babysitter. However, Yor’s mood did not improve as the night passed, leaving Twilight struggling. Anya is worried about her parents so she convinces Frankie that they should tag along.
Twilight immediately spots Anya and Frankie, but decides to ignore it. What’s more concerning is that Yor’s mood isn’t getting any better. Furthermore, she refused to sit, even at the theater or on a boat. Finally, the date ended at a luxury restaurant, where Yor “sat floating”. The restaurant refuses to let Frankie in due to the dress code and Anya’s age. Anya refuses to leave after using telepathy to detect someone recognizing Yor as an assassin who must be killed.
The waiter, a survivor of Yor’s previous mission, tries to kill her with a pufferfish cocktail. However, Yor’s tolerance to the poison was so high, all it did was ease her pain, allowing her to enjoy the evening with Loid. The assassin waiter decided to make a second try. However, Anya’s telepathy allows her to stop him. He decided to give up his life of crime. Meanwhile, Yor and Loid’s date ends. However, the next day, Yor’s pain returned, as did Twilight’s anxiety.
Thinking/Evaluating
Oh man, even though I mostly just keep up with the manga, I’d still love to see this story in animated form Spy×Family 26.
Modify source documents
Since I’ve been following the manga volumes that Viz has released so far, I decided to check out the adaptation Spy×Family 26 How to convert source manga? This story is taken from the omake chapter Extra Mission 2 of Volume 3. The adaptation is quite accurate. There’s a little padding done during Loid (Twilight) and Yor’s date to remind us that Frankie and Anya are on their tail. In the manga, these dating moments are just tiny frame elements. So I haven’t had any problems with this padding for a while.
I also have a small problem though. When Anya confronts the defeated waitress at the end, she starts saying her own name as the one the guy should leave alone. In the manga, Anya mentions Yor, which makes more sense. However, it’s possible that the manga originally said the same thing as the anime but Viz changed it. I do not know. Assuming Viz’s manga adaptation is accurate, I don’t know why the anime changed the person Anya was referring to. That aside, that’s just a very minor quibble.
Painful day
I’ve had some stupid injuries of various types over the past few months. Some of them were re-injured and quite painful. Therefore, I cannot help but feel Yor’s pain inside Spy×Family 26. When I wrote my review of Episode 3, I noted that Yor definitely healed her wounds. Now she has to live with that pain. I understand the humor of the moment and I certainly don’t object to it. However, I couldn’t laugh because of my aforementioned injuries. ????
Still, I like this moment that throws Twilight off balance. Obviously, there was no way he could have come up with a situation where Yor was shot. So watching Loid flap his wings made me very excited.
As for Anya, she does her normal things. I like how she uses telepathy to her advantage. As such, the way she defeated an assassin suits me. I’ve heard people say that children can be little terrors. And here, Anya truly became the bane of the assassin’s existence. ????
Final thoughts and conclusions
Final, Spy×Family 26 did a great job of setting things right where Season 1 left off. (You can watch my video review of Part 1 HERE!) I really enjoyed this episode, even if I couldn’t laugh at Yor’s pain. I’m very grateful for the successful adaptation and am looking forward to the next episode.
