Spy x Family has revealed a new piece of commemorative artwork of Anya’s voice actor.
Atsumi Tanezaki, who plays Anya Forger, recently showcased her new artwork on Spy x Family’s X page (formerly Twitter) to celebrate the Season 2 premiere. Tanezaki’s humorous illustration of The family pokes fun at the episode’s main conflict, which is Loid’s misinterpretation of Yor’s Gluteal Pain when she’s in a bad mood. This is one of several images created by various actors from the series, and more are planned for release before the next episode.
The long-awaited sequel to Cloverworks and Wit Studios’ Spy x Family series has been making waves online over the past few weeks. Days before the Season 2 premiere, Spy x Family revealed the new opening scene for Season 2, created by renowned animator Masaaki Yuasa (Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!). After just three days online, this series of scenes has garnered more than two million views on YouTube. As of October 10, the video had a total of more than 2.7 million views.
Based on the hit manga series by Tatsuya Endo, Spy x Family follows Agent Twilight, a spy tasked with maintaining peace between the bordering countries of Westalis and Ostania. As part of her mission and cover, Twilight adopts a young girl named Anya (who is also a psychic) to infiltrate a prestigious school frequented by the Prime Minister of Ostania. While working undercover as Loid Forger, he also took a wife named Yor, who secretly moonlighted as an assassin. Delivered with both humor and heart, the series chronicles the group’s growth as a genuine, albeit unconventional, family. To the delight of many fans, the Season 2 trailer teased a potential romantic subplot between Loid and Yor, showing the pair on a date.
In addition to Season 2, the Spy x Family franchise is also expanding with an upcoming feature film and video game. The first season, titled Spy x Family Code: White, revolves around Anya’s attempt to impress the headmaster of Eden Academy with his favorite dessert, hoping to win her a much-needed Stella award. In doing so, Anya unwittingly becomes the catalyst for a series of events that could threaten world peace. The latter, titled Spy x Anya: Operation Memories, is a life simulation game revolving around Anya’s daily life both at home and at school. As shown in the recent preview trailer, the game’s various activities will include cooking with Yor, classy card games, and family outings. Code: White is scheduled to launch on December 22, while Spy x Anya will launch sometime in 2024.
Spy x Family fans can watch the series on Hulu and Crunchyroll. The manga is available in English on VIZ Media.
