Harley Quinn and Joker of the Suicide Squad will find themselves transported to a whole new world in a new anime project called Isekai Suicide Squad.
DC’s Suicide Squad travels into a whole new world in a new anime project called Isekai Suicide Squad.
Previously, Warner Bros. Japan has teased a mysterious collaboration with animation studio Wit Studio (Spy x Family) for an isekai project. At Anime Expo 2023, during the Wit Studio panel, the studio revealed that DC’s Suicide Squad will be reincarnated into another world in a new work called Isekai Suicide Squad. Eri Osada is directing the anime project with Tappei Nagatsuki (Re:ZERO — Beginning Life in Another World) and Eiji Umehara (Vivy – Fluorite Eye’s Song) as scriptwriters.
The Isekai Suicide Squad has released a new trailer, showing off the new look of Harley Quinn and the Joker. Harley Quinn spins around in her lair while the Joker is in his car as he drives at night while playing the piano for the city. The new world they are both in has dragons, monsters, and knights. Amanda Waller and Deadshot will also appear in the anime. A new teaser image, illustrated by Akira Amano (Psycho-Pass), shows Harley Quinn tearing a string of pearls from her neck, grinning as she sticks her tongue out.

Amano will also join the animation team as the sketch character designer, with Naoto Hosoda (Digimon: The Movie and Magical Girl Site) serving as the lead character designer. Kenichiro Suehiro (The Eminence in Shadow and Uncle from Another World) is composing the music for Suicide Squad Isekai. Amano confessed to being a huge fan of Harley Quinn and said joining the Isekai Suicide Squad was “an honor.” Amano said, “Eri Osada’s clear vision for Harley’s design made the process go smoother than expected and I enjoyed drawing her outfit and muscles while imagining her adventures. save her actions in the story.”
Shinya Tsurouoka of Warner Bros. Japan has noted the growing popularity of the isekai fantasy genre, where characters find themselves transported into a fantasy world. “What if DC characters like Harley Quinn and The Joker go on a rampage at Isekai? It’s really a quirky anime project that we brought to a global audience from Japan,” Tsuruoka said. “I am delighted to be partnering with WIT STUDIO on this dream project that only Warner Bros. Only Japan can produce. Please look forward to the origin story and the explosion of DC characters in Isekai.”
No release date has been announced for Suicide Squad Isekai.
