Shonen Jump+'s scriptwriting app World Maker announced earlier this week that Hikari's storyboard “Kiichi no Ayamachi” (translated as “Kiichi's Fault” in English) was awarded the grand prize for the competition. Short anime film making contest co-sponsored by this application. with Netflix.
Hikari will receive a cash prize of 500,000 yen ($3,264 USD) and their storyboard will be adapted into an anime produced by Netflix.
“Kiichi no Ayamachi” follows a cheerful middle school girl named Aya who meets an oni boy named Kiichi. Kiichi feeds on human emotions, but as he spends time with Aya, he begins to realize the true depth of these emotions.
Other creators nominated for the anime short film contest include “Uchujin wa Boshi o Kaburu Daro ka” by Sydney Katonbo, “Arisugawa-san to Arisugawa-san” by Usagi, “CLOVER” by Gyusuke, “Zombie no Furi de Ikinobiru” by Sanmonzake and “Henshin Hero!” by Yokan. All creators were recognized as honorable mentions and will each receive a 10,000 yen ($65.00 USD) Amazon gift card.
The World Maker app was first launched by Shueisha and Shonen Jump+ on July 12, 2023. The app allows users to create thumbnail sketch layouts for manga or storyboards for animation, human series live action, movies and commercials. Users can compose page layouts or use templates provided in the application, and have the ability to adjust and remove provided characters and other graphical elements. They can also participate in conversations, add effects, and publish the final result.

The app also claims to use machine translation to translate thumbnails and storyboards into 17 languages, including English, Chinese, Korean, and French.
