The December issue of Kadokawa's Dragon Age magazine published the final chapter of Shigemitsu Harada and Hachi Sendō's Hikaru to Hikaru manga on Monday.
Hikaru to Hikaru (Hikaru and Hikaru; with manga titles where the first “Hikaru” is written in blue hiragana and the second “Hikaru” is written in pink katakana), the latter syllable is often used for from abroad) focuses on Hikaru, a descendant of an ancient ninja family. Although he has long been trained in the art of ninjutsu, he still wishes to master a technique he has long struggled with, “Kunoichi no Jutsu”, which allows a male ninja's body to transform into women's body. Without mastering this technique, Hikaru will never be recognized by his peers as an official ninja. To force him to get stronger, Hikaru's father orders him to enroll in a famous all-girls school and use the little skill he acquired in”Kunoichi no Jutsu” to hide his true gender and graduate from the school. .
Harada and Sendō launched the manga in Dragon Age magazine in March 2023. Kadokawa published the manga's second compiled book volume on May 9. The manga's third and final volume will ship in April 2025.
Harada wrote two different manga spin-offs for Akane Shimizu's cells are active! comic. First, Cells at Work! Code Black, launched in Kodansha's Morning magazine and digital manga magazine Weekly D Morning in June 2018 and ended in January 2021. Issei Hatsuyoshi drew the manga. Publisher Kodansha USA licensed the manga. The manga inspired a television anime that premiered in January 2021. The second season, Hataraku Saibō Lady (Cells at Work! Lady), debuted in Kodansha's Morning two magazine in January 2020 and ended in September 2022. Akari Otokawa drew the manga. Publisher Kodansha USA is publishing Cells at Work! Code Black in English.
Harada and Shinjirō launched the Shinyaku Kani Kōsen (The Crab Cannery Ship: New Testament) manga in Young Animal magazine in June 2021 and ended it in November 2022. Hakusensha published the fifth volume of the technical booklet manga issue in December 2022. While Hakusensha published the first and second volumes of the manga both digitally and physically, the studio only published the third to fifth volumes digitally.
Harada's manga Ippatsu Kiki Musume previously inspired a television anime in 1999, while his manga Yuria Hyaku-shiki inspired a live-action video in 2009.
