The 90s anime Sailor Moon is returning via Toonami, along with other classic fan-favorite anime in a new retro block on Cartoon Network.
Created by famous manga artist Naoko Takeuchi, Luna first appeared in the anime series Sailor Moon as a mysterious black cat with a crescent moon mark on her forehead, meeting and informing the main character. , Usagi, that she is Sailor Moon, a Guardian of Destiny against evil. Luna is prominent throughout the series as a mentor to Usagi and the Sailor Guardians. She is later joined by Artemis, a talking white cat, who performs a similar mentor role for Minako/Sailor Venus.
Sailor Moon celebrates the release of its art book with framed prints of the creators' illustrations
Sailor Moon collectors can also rejoice at the news of the recently released manga artbook, Sailor Moon: Raisonne Art Works (1991-2023). It was revealed earlier this week that some of the book's artistic highlights will become high-quality framed prints available to purchase. This art book is a 200-page compendium with over 700 illustrations created by franchise creator Takeuchi throughout his artistic career, and Ogaki Bookstore in Tokyo is hosting an exhibition celebrates the book's release, which begins on June 1.
