Re:Zero Season 3 comes closer with an exciting new trailer that introduces all 5 Participants of the Royal Selection. With no new visuals since the trailer, the plot has now become clearer, as the production team provided an ominous foreword to complement the art.
Through the Official Re:Zero Anime Website, a new website has been created to establish the setting. The translation from the site reads, “A year has passed since the battle against the Great Rabbit, as well as repelling the onslaught of Elsa’s group, helping to liberate the Sanctuary that Beatrice had contracted with. Emilia’s camp worked together for the King’s Selection. But while Natsuki Subaru has had a good day, a single letter from a messenger heralds the end of peace.”
“It was a letter from one of the candidates in the King’s Selection, Anastasia, inviting Emilia to one of the Five Great Cities of Lugunica – the gateway city of Pristella. Accepting the invitation, all sorts of reunions await Subaru’s group heading to Pristella. Some are unexpected, some are unintentional, and some will come in the future. Evil intentions stir beneath the surface; A crisis of unprecedented magnitude is lurking around. The boy once again stood up against fate.”
The visuals and trailer give fans some insight into what to expect in Re:Zero Season 3. With footage of the various Imperial Selection camps isolated in the trailer, the arrival of the Witch Cult has increased the tension over who Subaru’s team can trust this season. Emilia and Anastasia’s factions may seem similar, but phrases like “surprise” and “unintentional” could suggest that several parties may be conspiring in Pristella.
The year 2024 is approaching for the release of Season 3, with many other surprises announced recently. As part of MF Bunko J’s 2023 “Summer School Festival”, it was announced that Re:Zero has surpassed 13 million copies worldwide, a new smartphone game is in development, and Arc 8 of the Re:Zero light novel is being written, building on the recent conclusion of Arc 7. Author Tappei Nagatsuki will also be writing the script for the new Suicide Squad anime this year.
Re:Zero Season 3 will adapt Arc 5 of the light novel. A release date has yet to be announced.
