Dandadan Episode 7 Review: The sixth episode of Dandadan or Dan Da Dan (ダンダダン) was amazing because it left us with anticipation. Let's find out how this episode plays out.
Dandadan episode 6 summary
While Aira comes across as the annoying “catch me” type and might make you nervous, there's a good chance she'll be a unique addition to an already strong ensemble. She's also the girl who flirted with Okarun only to talk bad about him behind his back in the previous episode.
She carries herself with superiority, convinced that her attractiveness makes her special. She does not do good deeds out of sincere kindness; rather, she expects praise, acting as if she is helping others by acknowledging. However, Momo sees through this facade and exposes her, causing Aira to retaliate by spreading malicious rumors in this episode.
Luckily, Okarun stepped up when it mattered most, standing up for the other boys and showing them where they stood if they dared to speak ill of his first friend. The real highlight of the episode, however, isn't Aira's troubled behavior. Instead, it's a surprising twist: Aira ends up in possession of Okarun's balls. This unexpected turn of events also attracts a very persistent ghost towards her.
Dandadan episode 7 review
We already know that this anime tends to go in the exact opposite direction of what you would expect. In this episode, the producers achieved the same feat but in a very emotional and engaging way. Acrobat Silky is said to be obsessed with Aira and is considered her mother. At first, we didn't think much of this because of the humorous nature of the situation and our lack of interest in her background.
However, in this episode, we get a deep and very touching thrill. tells about what happened to Acrobatic Silky to turn her into this. Her attachment to Aira is so deep that she is even willing to go the extra mile knowing full well that she will gain nothing in return. So why pursue someone to the point of wanting to devour her so they can be a part of you forever?
Behind the ghost's urge to reconnect with Aira lies the sad and depressing story of a mother who tried her best to give her daughter a dignified life. Acrobat Silky must have been a promising ballerina who, due to circumstances, had to do odd jobs and sell sex to make ends meet. However, even when faced with harsh daily circumstances, her daughter's smile lifted her spirits and gave her a reason to continue her miserable life. But everything falls apart one day when her joy is taken away, sending her on the path to becoming a monster.
The way the emotional segments are animated and presented is beautiful. It makes your heart not only feel sorry for the very entity you cursed last episode but also become irritated with society. The soundtrack transitions brilliantly from its usual upbeat mode to a more melancholic and mesmerizing piano melody. On the other hand, the conclusion is a bittersweet experience that brings salvation but at the cost of loss.
Verdict
This episode was one of the best of this season. The makers have delivered an emotional segment masterfully and managed to seamlessly transition from action comedy to a somber tone within a few minutes. You connect with the characters even though you don't even know their names and feel sorry for them for what they've been through.
For me, the most powerful scene would have to be the acrobatic Silky dancing her heart out while bruised, painting a hauntingly beautiful picture.
