Warning: SPOILERS for episode #22 of Pokémon HorizonsPokémon Horizon has been slowly tracking down the Pokémon that once belonged to the strongest trainer in history, the Ancient Explorer known as Lucius, and the third member of this team, Galarian Moltres, was finally revealed in episode #22.
Ancient explorer Lucius was previously considered a hero who traveled across the Pokémon world and gathered a powerful team of Pokémon to help him on his journey. The first of these Pokémon is the Pokémon contained in the Ancient Poké Ball that Roy has, the shiny Black Rayquaza, while the second Pokémon contains the Titan-sized Arboliva, which the heroes found in a recently decimated forest. destroyed by forest fire. While searching for Rayquaza, which had escaped after being freed from its bubble, the crew came across the third member of Lucius’ team: a Galarian Moltres, hiding in the mines of Galar.
Galarian Moltres proves to be a formidable opponent in Pokémon Horizons
Galarian Moltres, which first appeared in anime form in episode #22 of Pokémon Horizons, is said to be quite dangerous. Just its presence causes Roy and Riko to lose their strength, at least until they can overcome it with sheer determination. Captain Pikachu confronts Moltres to try to protect the children, but finds himself overwhelmed and forced to perform several powerful attacks. The children barely escape, and Moltres aggressively chases them as they try to escape in a minecart, causing a tunnel collapse as the passage collapses behind them.
As another Legendary Pokémon, Galarian Moltres is certainly an impressive addition to any anime trainer team. There seems to be something wrong with it that makes it so aggressive and dangerous, but what exactly has not been revealed. Lucius’ Pokémon appear to have been left behind around the world, so they can continue to protect the world in his absence. If it is like Arboliva, it may come to this mine to protect the area, but becomes angry after some destruction occurs to the area. It looks like Black Rayquaza might be checking up on his old teammates, instead of flying around randomly.
Pokémon Horizons reveals half of the strongest teams in history
The episode ends on a cliffhanger, with Moltres causing that cave-in while Friede and Amethio are still in the mine, so it’s unknown exactly what will happen to Moltres. Galarian Moltres may be a bit too powerful to leave in the hands of Riko and Roy at this point, so perhaps it will escape like Rayquaza, or return to its bubble and simply cannot be called out at will. With half of the Ancient Explorer’s team now revealed, it seems the character truly lives up to his reputation as the strongest trainer in history and a fan of Pokémon horizon can expect to find out the next three.
