Many '90s anime fans grew up watching Cardcaptor Sakura — the anime adaptation of CLAMP's popular magical girl series. Recently, a Pizza Hut branch honored the beloved brand with a themed menu set that quickly went viral online.
According to details on Netlab and Taiwan News, Pizza Hut's Taiwan branch released its official collaboration items with Cardcaptor Sakura on June 4. The menu's signature item is the “Ghost Circle Cheese Pizza art” — an incredibly creative tribute to the franchise's main character. Half meal and half dessert, it consists of an eight-pointed star filled with German sausage and topped with white mochi. Additionally, the center of the star is filled with Japanese curry and mashed potatoes. Surrounding the star is an attached “halo” of pizza dough dotted with yellow macarons. The menu also includes manju, or sweet rice cakes, resembling “Kero-chan,” the flying bear-like creature that accompanies Sakura on her adventures. These products are part of a limited-time promotional event that ends on June 10.

Fast food chains such as McDonald's and Pizza Hut frequently participate in anime collaborations
Like McDonald's, Pizza Hut has had many prominent collaborations with famous anime brands. Last year, the company's Japanese arm partnered with Lycoris Recoil for a limited-time marketing campaign. Instead of introducing new menu items, the event gives Pizza Hut customers the chance to win Lycoris Recoil collectible merchandise and exclusive QUO gift cards. The event also featured original artwork of series protagonists Chisato Nishikigi and Takina Inoue, with the characters wearing red and white Pizza Hut uniforms. Meanwhile, Pizza Hut Taiwan previously collaborated with Hajime Isayama's iconic Attack on Titan franchise. For this campaign, the company sold a limited-time menu item called “Pizza no Titan,” which uses crab sticks and pizza crusts to recreate the face of the famous Colossal Titan — a the event takes place exclusively in August 2023.
