There are times when the main character feels like he is not enough because he thinks he is not interesting and does not deserve certain things. This can lead to misunderstandings. In episode 2 of Our Dating Stories: Experienced You and Inexperienced Me explores this issue.
Our Dating Story: You Are Experienced and I am Inexperienced episode 2 begins with Ryuto doubting himself because he is dating the most popular girls and considers himself a boring nerd at school. He suddenly received a text message from Runa, saying that she had fallen asleep. Ryuto texted her back and found a way for her to get to school without missing first period. She still went to class, even though it was late.
Later in the episode, he talks to his friends about the relationship and how they’ve never had sex. He mentioned that he thought she might want to, but he also admitted that he wasn’t ready. His friends think that maybe she is playing with his emotions and that he is setting unrealistic expectations for himself, which makes him feel insecure about both himself and himself. relationship. Afterwards, he returned to class and ran into Runa. She tries to talk to him about a dream she had involving him. His face turned red when he noticed her best friend, Nicole, looking at him angrily, making him feel scared. Runa approached his desk and he noticed a lot of curious people.
He decided he wanted to talk to her outside of class and expressed that he did not feel comfortable discussing such matters at school. He suggested that they talk outside of school, which led to the idea of communicating through dates.
She told him she was free on Saturday but not on Sunday, which sparked the idea of their first official date as a couple. Honestly, if I were in his situation, I would feel insecure too. Imagine you’re dating the most popular person in school while you’re considered one of the least popular. It can have a significant impact on your self-esteem, especially when there are a lot of people watching your every move when you’re with the celebrity you’re dating.
I’m glad he expressed his discomfort about it. talked to her at school and she understood his feelings. I appreciate the way they communicate with the aim of making each other feel comfortable and building their relationship. Plus, we get to enjoy a cute, little date in Our Dating Story: Experienced You and Inexperienced Me episode 2!
At night, Runa called him about the appointment and what to do. He’s not sure but suggests they do what she wants. Runa was surprised because none of her past ex-boyfriends did that for her. So their first date involved going shopping.
While resting and shopping for food, Runa asked him if he had fun because it didn’t seem like he was enjoying shopping with her. He assured her that he enjoyed the date because he liked to see her happy, which gave him satisfaction.
It’s such a green flag that he actually prefers to see her happy rather than resentful of being a supporting character while his girlfriend has a great time. I really appreciate how much he cares about her. I also liked how she asked him if he was happy.
It was Sunday and he received a morning text from her. An hour later, he replied but received no response from her. This makes him nervous because she usually carries her phone with her and responds quickly. This increases his insecurity and he begins to feel as though she has moved on.
To distract himself, he started watching videos of his favorite players playing games to forget about it. Later in the day, when he goes out with his friends, they see her talking to other guys, which further increases his insecurity. His friends try to comfort him, saying it’s okay and that he had time with her.
When he got home from school, she finally sent him a text, wanting to meet up. He feels scared, thinking she might want to break up because he feels unworthy of her, and his insecurities increase. However, the truth is that her phone ran out of battery while waiting in line to buy a special edition phone case, so she couldn’t reply to him during the day. She also gave him a matching phone case, which made him feel happy and safe because it signified their relationship. They talk about him being afraid of breaking up and she reveals that she wants to give him a gift.
As they walked home, she said the phone case marked their one-week anniversary. He was surprised because he had never had a girlfriend before and thought such milestones weren’t important. He shares that he just confessed to a girl in school, but she rejected him, making Runa his first girlfriend. She responded positively, saying that if he hadn’t been rejected, they wouldn’t have dated.
He is confused by this because he believes that middle school couples usually don’t last. She told him that her parents had been together since middle school and got married after high school. She always wanted a similar relationship in her life to feel like an adult.
Suddenly, a one-car race passes by them, and he begins to admire the car, talking about it in front of her. Finally he realized he was talking too much about the car, but she didn’t mind. This was the first time she heard him talk so much. She then revealed something surprising, mentioning that her parents got divorced while still referring to her as a race car.
I’ll wrap this up with my summary of Our Dating Story: Experienced You vs. Experienced I’m Inexperienced episode 2. I highly recommend you watch the episode because it goes in-depth more into how she compares herself to her parents and cars, helping you really understand her feelings. She seems happy but has some emotional scars and there’s a twist at the end that will have a significant impact on their relationship.
My overall review of this episode is very positive. The episode effectively explores the common issue of insecurity, especially prevalent in high school, where individuals often feel unworthy of certain things. It depicts the challenges of navigating relationships when people come from different worlds and perspectives.
I especially like how they kept the misunderstanding brief and didn’t give the impression that she didn’t want to talk to him. Turns out she wanted to give him a gift, very cute. His reaction was touching and it added charm to the episode. Towards the end, we get glimpses into her life, giving us a deeper understanding of her character. We mostly see her fun side, but this episode reveals a bit of another side of her personality, making the gradual exploration of each character’s backstory fascinating.
I recount our Dating Story: Experienced You and Inexperienced Me episode 2 on August 10. If you liked this episode, be sure to vote for it in the Anime Corner Fall 2023 poll.
