Ginny’s story shows an unprecedented crime against One Piece
Although it is not explicitly stated and it is still possible that Bonney is the father of one of Ginny’s slaves, this chapter heavily implies that Ginny endured sexual violence for two years at the hands of Thien Long before she fell ill and was eliminated for becoming unsightly due to her particular illness. The whole affair certainly painted the World Nobles in general in a much more monstrous light, as some Nobles like Saint Charloss were previously said to have had as many as 13 wives, most if not all. are all capable of disagreeing, just like Ginny.
Overall, Eiichiro Oda is to be commended for his careful and respectful handling of Ginny’s character and plot. Never once do readers see Ginny in such a pitiful state except for a short clip in the distance of Kuma hugging her after her death, allowing all to remember her as a bright, cheerful woman. which she was introduced to in the first place. Needless to say, the latest chapter solidified the Heavenly Dragons as true villains along with demonstrating the series’ ability for emotional depth and maturity, and that One Piece certainly more than the fun fictional pirate adventure it represents.
One Piece brings an all-too-real tragedy into its story
While One Piece often shows villains committing heinous crimes, what happens to Ginny takes the series to a completely different level. Thien Long are always portrayed as cruel slaves. However, slavery is something that does not happen in the real world (at least not in the traditional sense of the word), so although every reader of the series can easily understand that slavery is slavery is a terrible crime, but they can’t really relate to it. it, and it remains an “imaginary” crime. On the other hand, sexual violence is all too real, meaning that the scope and implications of Ginny’s story are completely unprecedented in One Piece.
What makes Ginny’s story so heartbreaking is that it’s a story that thousands, even millions, of women can relate to and continue to witness around them in the real world. The world of One Piece, despite its many problems and complications, always feels like a fun, adventurous world full of surprises waiting to be discovered. However, Ginny’s story proves that being a woman in the world of A piece like in the real world.
