Roronoa Zoro – swordsman of the Straw Hat Pirates and right-hand man of Monkey D. Luffy has his own Light Novel. The content of the book tells Zoro's story starting from the moment he left Shimotsuki village. Although the novel was not written by Eiichiro Oda, it will still provide insight into Zoro's past.
Has Zoro's novel been released yet?
Zoro's light novel was released in June 2024, confirming that the story will follow the swordsman from the moment he begins his adventure after leaving Shimotsuki village – the village where he practiced swordplay with his friend Kuina , to become the greatest swordsman in the world.
One Piece has never revealed much about Zoro's past before he joined the Straw Hats. We know that, before becoming a pirate, he was known as the “Pirate Hunter”. He also refused to join Crocodile's Baroque Works organization.
Furthermore, Zoro also cooperated with two other pirates, Johnny and Yosaku, who only appeared briefly. That's all One Piece readers know. Now Zoro's novel will go deeper into these details and explore a new aspect of Zoro's life.
The plot of Zoro's novel
Zoro's novel will be divided into several parts. The first photo has been released and shows the swordsman going from village to village, defeating all the swordsmen, from all the dojos. This increases the reputation of Zoro, who wants to become the strongest swordsman.
He encounters a powerful opponent along the way, known as the “Dojo Destroyer”. They say this person is a dojo destroyer, he has won thousands of battles. When everyone revealed that this swordsman was Mihawk, Zoro was excited because he knew that he was the strongest person in the world.
However, when Zoro found the “Dojo Destroyer”, he discovered that it was just someone masquerading as Mihawk. Zoro easily defeated the impostor and achieved his 2001st victory, surpassing the number of wins Kuina had against Zoro. So Zoro left the village to search for new swordsmen, especially Mihawk.
This is just the first part of Zoro's novel, focusing on the Destroyer Dojo and his departure from the village. The novel will have additional parts. The sequel will presumably recount how he became a bounty hunter and a trailer reveals: “Zoro has finally left Shimotsuki village to become the strongest swordsman. What awaits him? on a journey to find Mihawk, the world's greatest swordsman?”
Orthodoxy in Zoro's novels
Zoro's novels are not supervised by Oda, so they cannot be considered canon. Of course, fans will still enjoy following Zoro's new adventures, because this is an interesting part of the story, filling in important gaps, but in the end it's just a Unofficial look into Zoro's past.
