One Piece makes the most of a boring episode
Even though almost nothing happened, the episode set up future developments
One Piece episode #1106 isn't a great episode, existing mainly to set up later developments, but the anime certainly did what it could to keep things interesting. For beginners, character interactions in A piece episode #1106 brought a lot of humor and enthusiasm from all participants, so at least each scene is interesting to watch. Granted, it owes more to Eiichiro Oda's writing than anything the anime did, but the anime still managed to adapt things in a way that made sense along with a few additional scenes, so that's still commendable.
The direction for episode #1106 is also interesting to watch. Not only is the art and animation consistently beautiful from start to finish, as is often the case with the Egghead arc, but it also has many notable moments of excellent animation; special, scene of Mk. III Pacifista attacks on government agents has truly breathtaking art and animation. There's no need for a transition episode that mostly tries so hard with its animation, but the fact that it was surprisingly well-received and does so much makes it worth watching when it should be. not like that.
The direction for episode #1106 is especially strong with the onset of Kuma's memories. Not only are there a lot of unique camera angles and artwork for this scene, most notably in the opening with everything in black and white, and even though he doesn't have to do much, Nobuhiko Okamoto's delivery as young Bartholomew Kuma sold his sadness perfectly and how ready everyone should be for a truly tragic backstory to unfold. General A piece The anime made the most of what they had to do, and with any luck, episode #1107 will be an even better sequel.
