Nintendo announced on Friday that it has added the games Densetsu no Starfy, Densetsu no Starfy 2, and Densetsu no Starfy 3 to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers in the west. These games were previously only available in Japan.
Densetsu no Starfy was released for the Game Boy Advance handheld console in September 2002. Nintendo describes the game:
No Sleep Until Pufftop! A sudden storm has sent Starfy, prince of the floating sky kingdom of Pufftop, plunging from his lofty home into the waters below. Luckily, he is rescued by an old lobster named Lobber, who sets the lovable hero on an epic journey back to Pufftop. However, the road home is fraught with dangers, and Starfy will need to use a variety of abilities – including the Star Spin and Glide – as well as vehicles like the mighty Mole Tank, to overcome the challenges that await. The legend begins here!
Densetsu no Starfy 2 was released for the Game Boy Advance in September 2003. Nintendo describes the game:
Help Starfy save his mother and bring peace to the Kingdom of Pufftop in this action-packed sequel! Ogura – the villain from the first game – returns to exact his revenge on Starfy, and this time he has his sights set on Mama Star. The vengeful villain ransacks Pufftop and steals Starfy's mother in the ensuing melee, leaving Starfy with no choice but to dive straight into his next adventure. With his best friend Moe by his side and countless challenges to face, Starfy has his work cut out for him.
Densetsu no Starfy 3 was released for the Game Boy Advance in August 2004. Nintendo describes the game:
Starfy's sister Starly joins him and Moe in their third adventure on the Game Boy Advance! Discover the truth behind the mysterious villain who has been pulling Ogura's strings all this time and put an end to their nefarious plans once and for all. Spin and float with your starry siblings and save the day through action-packed levels with the help of familiar friends, including… Wario?! You read that right: Wario outsmarts Starfy and Starly to help them through the Undersea Ruins in Stage 8 (while hunting for treasure, of course), so be sure to check it out. Come on, Starfy and Starly, come on!
The Legendary Starfy series has since continued with two more games. Densetsu no Stafy 4 was released for the Nintendo DS in April 2006. The latest game in the series was released in Japan as Densetsu no Stafy Taiketsu! Daīru Kaizokudan for the Nintendo DS in July 2008. It was released as The Legendary Starfy in North America in June 2009 and in Europe in October 2009.
