The legacy of Super Sentai
Based on the Super Sentai parody series of the same name by mangaka Negi Haruba, Go! Go! The ranger lost! Follow Footsoldier D on his mission to infiltrate and destroy the Super Sentai group, Dragon Keepers. The English translation synopsis of the original manga reads: “When the Monster Army invaded Earth thirteen years ago, the Divine Dragon Squad stood up to stop them! As war rages, these great heroes are humanity’s last hope!… or are they? In truth, the invaders were subdued within a year, forced to continue slaying a monster each week for the rangers to crush before their adoring fans! But one monster has had enough. Something has to change! He will rebel against the power of the Dragon Rangers and destroy them all…from within!”
The Japanese Super Sentai series is a subgenre of tokusatsu media, known for its larger-than-life live-action characters and flashy practical special effects. The Super Sentai genre remains one of the most influential cultural phenomena in Japanese media, with an unmistakable impact on many beloved anime series such as My Hero Academia, Sailor Moon and Tokyo Mew Mew. The romantic Super Sentai parody, Love After World Domination, also explores what would happen if the Red Ranger and a soldier of the evil organization fell in love. Similarly, Super Sentai has also enjoyed great success in overseas markets, with the genre inspiring the hugely popular Power Rangers series in North America, starting with 1993’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and continuing to Power Rangers Dino Fury in 2020.
Go! Go! The ranger lost! It is expected to launch around 2024.
