Netflix added Makoto Shinkai's Suzume (Suzume no Tojimari) to its streaming service in 169 countries, including the United States and Japan, on Friday.
Crunchyroll will also stream the series.
The film opened in Japan at No. 1 in November 2022. It opened in North America in April 2023. Crunchyroll streams the film in Japanese with English subtitles and an English dub. The film earned $5,001,705 in its opening weekend in the US and has grossed more than $10 million. The film ended its theatrical run in Japan in May 2023, earning 14.79 billion yen (about 105.3 million USD) at the box office.
Actress Nanoka Hara voices the female lead Suzume Iwato in the film. Idol group SixTONES member Hokuto Matsumura (Tōru in live-action Liar × Liar, Shizuka Doumeki in live-action xxxHOLiC) makes his voice acting debut in the film as Sōta Munakata, a young man who embarks on a journey present to Suzume as”Door”.-Master closes the door.”
Shinkai (your name, Weathering With You) directed the film and wrote the script. He is also credited with writing the original story. Masayoshi Tanaka (name, Weathering With You) designed the characters. Kenichi Tsuchiya (your name., Garden of Words) is the animation director. Takumi Tanji (Children Who Chase Lost Voices) is the art director. CoMix Wave Films and Story Inc. film production. TOHO distributed the film. Seattle-based Hollywood film composer Kazuma Jinnouchi (Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, RWBY: Ice Queendom) scored the film alongside RADWIMPS. TikTok artist Toaka performed one of the theme songs of the movie”Suzume”.
