In the interview, the author revealed that the character Sasuke was inspired by Hiei from YuYu Hakusho. The manga was released in 1994 and became famous after only a short time.
Speaking about this character, Kishimoto said: “I was already a huge fan of Hiei when I was just a reader, but I also used him as inspiration when I started creating my character. At first, I couldn’t create a ‘cool’ character.”
He continued: “I didn’t know where to start so I researched one of my favorite characters: Hiei, and I succeeded. when creating Sasuke, his Sharingan as well as some of his other techniques were inspired by him.”
