As a ninja-focused series, Naruto pays little attention to samurai, but the official Naruto account on Twitter shared an image of what the trio of Naruto, Sasuka, and Sakura look like wearing armor and swords.
This artwork shared by Narto_info_en shows what it would be like if Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of Naruto, retold the story in the style of classic samurai.
The artwork above is drawn in the Ukiyo-e style, famous in Japan during the Edo period (1600 – 1868), highlighting the main group of characters Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura wearing samurai costumes.
In the Naruto series, samurai also exist, but they have little screen time. They are described as having ninja-like talent and their origin comes from the Land of Iron. They can use chakra like ninjas, but what's interesting is that they apply this chakra to swordsmanship.
A curious thing that few people may know is that Kishimoto also has another manga series called “Samurai 8”, because the author Naruto likes samurai and science fiction. But unfortunately this manga was canceled in 2020 because it did not sell much.
