The budding relationship between My Hero Academy‘s Deku and Ochaco are many fans’ favorite aspects of the series, as the two clumsy hero students slowly begin to realize their feelings for each other. However, since they’ve been trained these moments are a lot more subtle than they are sometimes seen in other shounen manga, something that only makes each upgrade of their relationship all the more heartwarming. .
It’s hard to compare the early moments of their relationship with those that come later, simply because the circumstances of each scene are so different. Thus, this list includes five of the best moments between Deku and Ochaco throughout the series, arranged chronologically. These moments best illustrate their emotional and relationship growth at that particular time, and hopefully together will show how Deku and Ochaco have gotten to where they are now.
5 Ochaco accepts Deku’s name
One of the earliest moments in the series between Deku and Ochaco is shortly after they start their school careers at UA, in episode 6 of season 1. Deku and Ochaco are randomly selected to be on a team for a team. in their first heroic exercise, against Bakugo and Ida. Deku can predict how Bakugo will attack and grabs Bakugo, knocking him to the ground. Midoriya proudly declares that Deku is now the name of a hero, not a squishy child–and later on, viewers are shown a flashback of Ochaco saying how much she liked the name Deku, for her sake. I feel it has a “can do” attitude (“Deku” is very similar to the Japanese verb “to do”), and is also very cute.
It’s clear that Ochaco’s fresh take on the nickname that embarrasses him has changed the way Midoriya thinks, not only of himself but also of the image he presents to the world. This is the first instance of Ochaco and Deku having a real positive influence on each other and shows that the relationship has more to offer than a mere infatuation.
Deku’s 4 Most Loyal Friends
In the Sports Games section, especially episode 4 of season 2, Deku made it to the second round of the competition in first place, making him an extremely valuable target. As a result, no one wanted to be on his team…until Ochaco stepped forward to work alongside him. She tells him that “it’s better to work with someone you like,” hitting Midoriya’s pitiful little heart. This is a great example of Ochaco not only saying something, but proving it by following. She is said to have put herself at a great disadvantage when working with Deku but chose to do so anyway, in part because of her belief in his abilities.
On the other hand, this episode also contains a bit of jealousy on the part of Ochaco, as Mei Hatsume introduces herself to Midoriya and joins their team. Of course, that’s not necessarily a good thing, but it sheds some light on the intensity of her emotions.
3 Is it love?
In a rare moment of downtime in episode 15 of season 3, Ochaco is lost in thought in the common area of UA’s dorm. She admitted that she was thinking of something and Mina immediately guessed that she was in love. Ochaco, of course, dismisses the idea and immediately denies it, but no other girl is really convinced. They even guessed Midoriya with relative ease. Ochaco was so distracted that she eventually activated her Quirk and flew around the room, where she saw Midoriya practicing outside the window. The scene is accompanied by Cupid-like music and a vibrant backdrop, showing that despite her denials, her classmates are on the right track.
It was an enjoyable introspective moment for Ochaco, to sit there and really reflect on the person he liked. Ochaco begins to realize that taking the hero course together is actually an obstacle to the two of them actually being able to form a relationship and she can’t let this ruin her dreams. self.
2 Ochaco, hero of heroes
In Season 5, episode 10, Deku confronts students from Class 1-B in a training exercise as he begins to display a new ability he’s never seen before – something that fans have never seen before. will soon learn is Deku’s inherited Black Whip Ability. However, not knowing what it was, Deku was a bit confused, concerned that he might be a danger to his opponents. Ochaco thinks back to the original reason she wanted to be a hero, and how a new question popped into her head: who would help the heroes when they needed help? Without hesitation, Ochaco arrives to help Deku, and quickly comes up with a plan involving Shinso’s brainwashing Quirk to stop his powers from going insane.
Once Deku was back in control, his first worry was that Ochaco was slightly injured when he approached him. All in all, it was a very sweet moment, and it proves that Ochaco has thought very hard about who she wants to be, and how her feelings for Midoriya have shaped it. how.
Deku .’s 1 well-earned vacation
Deku and Ochaco’s most recent sweet moment was at the end of season 6, in its 24th episode. Deku was operating alone, working tirelessly to hunt down All for One, when Class 1-A arrived to bring him back to UA. While Ochaco and Deku also had a sweet moment there, the reality of what happens when it comes to UA earns this spot on the list. Many of the evacuated civilians believed that Deku’s presence in UA would cause the villains to attack, and many of them demanded that he leave. As the crowd grew noisy, Ochaco grabbed a loudspeaker and flew up a building, punishing the crowd and reminding them that in the end Deku was just a boy – a tired, dirty kid. dirty and have to shoulder more responsibilities than he does. should have had to bear the burden.
It was the follow-up to Ochaco’s promise to be the Hero of the Hero, as she stood up to Deku’s defense. Ochaco’s position gives other characters, such as Kota and the shark woman, the courage to stand up, proving that Deku saves lives and makes a lot of sacrifices. Ochaco does one thing here that puts her in an unpopular position because it’s the right thing to do, affirming both her heroic value and her affection for Midoriya in one act. It’s My Hero Academia’s best scene to show the potential of the relationship between Deku and Ochaco.
As the story nears its end, there’s still room for Ochaco and Deku’s relationship to deepen even further, and who knows where they might be in their relationship by the end of the series. Deku and Ochaco’s relationship is at the core of the whole My Hero Academy a series, an emotional line underpins the story, so it’s possible they’ll have some big moment together before all is said and done.
