Fuji TV announced on Thursday that it is producing a live-action mini-series adaptation of Mayo Tsurukame’s Perfect Propose manga. The series will premiere on Fuji TV On Demand with six episodes next year.
Shunya Kaneko (Ultraman Trigger, live-action Rent-A-Girlfriend) plays main character Hiro, while Kōta Nomura (live-action Shin Shinchō Kōki ~ Classmate wa Sengoku Bujо̄) plays Kai, Hiro’s childhood friend. Tadaaki Horai (live-action My Love Mix-Up!) is directing the film, with a script by Takeshi Miyamoto (Old Fashion Cupcake).
Futekiya Publishing licensed the manga and is available in English at Comic Planet. futekiya describes the manga:
Hiro is so stressed at work that he can barely eat properly or get enough sleep. As he passed out on the sidewalk after another stressful day, an unfamiliar face called out to him—did they promise to get married? What was Kai Fukaya’s deal and why did he insist on taking on the role of Hiro’s fiancé?
Tsurukame launched the manga in Kaiohsha’s Gush magazine in 2020. Kaiohsha published a compilation booklet of the manga in August 2020, and a television drama CD was published in 2021. The manga launched in English in December 2021.
