The iconic protagonists of One Piece and the Dragon Balls show off their powers in this epic illustration from an anime megafan.
Digital artist Jiken shared an image on Twitter with Monkey D. Luffy and Son Goku standing side by side in their strongest form. Luffy stands on the left, in the picture is a white Gear 5. This is the awakened form of the Gomu Gomu no Mi Devil Fruit, which grants him rubber-man powers. On the right is Goku in perfect Super Instinct, a powerful divine transformation that powers the Super Instinct Mark.
This detailed illustration presents accurate anime depictions of characters in these forms. Luffy first appears with white hair and clothes surrounded by clouds, taking on the unique form that comes with Gear 5. This form has not been depicted in the Toei Animations anime at the time of writing; however, it is expected to appear soon. Additionally, Goku sports his iconic orange and blue Gi, which has become synonymous with the character and the franchise. He also has silver hair which he got after achieving Perfect Super Instinct. The comments were full of praise for the artist, with many praising their work and expressing their love for the characters.
The Shonen Kings
The artist referred to the pair as “The Shonen Kings” in the caption. Luffy and Goku are often labeled this way as they are considered two of the most important characters in the animation industry. The latter served as a benchmark for future protagonists, while the former played a key role in the success of Shonen Jump’s “Big Three” alongside Naruto and Bleach.
One Piece, written by Eiichiro Oda, is one of the longest running manga properties in the entire medium. The series follows Luffy as he ventures across the sea in search of legendary treasure. He’s doing this in hopes of becoming the “Pirate King” alongside his trusty Straw Hat Pirates, who recently made their first appearance in the trailer for the upcoming live-action Netflix series. next.
Dragon Ball, on the other hand, is an iconic franchise by Akira Toriyama that started in 1984, more than a decade before One Piece started in 1997. The franchise focuses on Goku, an outsider. the planet known as the Saiyan lands on Earth and meets the young Bulma in the opening chapters/episodes. From there, the series grew into an epic asset with numerous sagas and spinoffs. There has been a recent discussion about the possibility of a Dragon Ball anime reboot. However, this has not been confirmed at the time of writing.
