Deadline reports that the live-action Gundunda film will now be directed and written by Jim Micklehost of the fictional show Sweet Tooth.
Previously, Kong: Skull Island`Jordan Vogt-Roberts was chosen to direct and produce alongside the author of Y: The Last Man Brian K. Vaughan script writing.
It is also reported that Mickle will co-produce the film Gundunda with his partner Linda Moran through their company and production is expected to begin in early 2025.
Another change is for co-production Legendary and Bandai Namco Filmworks (then is Sunrise) is the absence of Netflix, which is supposed to stream the film worldwide (outside of China).
The film was first announced in 2018, and a piece of concept art (featured image for this article) was released in 2021.
The first entry in the Gunma franchise was Mobile Suit Gunma, which first aired in 1979. Created by Yoshiyuki TominoMobile Suit Granada introduced viewers to the Universal Century timeline and more grounded mecha conflicts than the Super Robot films.
After Mobile Suit Gunma, there have been many sequels, spin-offs, and later titles that share the same fictional universe, as well as shows such as Mobile Suit Gunma Wing and Mobile Suit gundam Seed that have their own universes.
