Kei Sazane, the author behind Kimi to Boku no Saigo no Senjou, Aruiwa Sekai ga Hajimaru Seisen (or KimiSen), is back with a new light novel series published on MF Bunko J, which humans call Right Apostles Fight against the gods in a series of games until they achieve complete victory.
This is Kami wa Game ni Ueteiru. (or Gods'Games We Play outside Japan), tells the story of Fay Theo Philus or Fay for short, an Apostle where he has won 3 Gods'Games so far and he needs 7 more to achieve complete victory or Clear. Additionally, Fay also has the Arise ability where he will not die.
Accompanying Fay Theo Philus is Chief Secretary Miranda, where she wants him to meet a game addict. In addition, it is also believed that it is a former god who woke up after a thousand-year sleep in the North Pole.
Anyway, I'd like to introduce you to Leoleshea, a former god who plays various games in her apartment after waking up. Oh right, it seems like Fay remembered someone after seeing Leoleshea's appearance.
You see, one time Fay played a game with a girl with red hair. Now, there was no way this lady and Leoleshea were the same person, but Fay couldn't deny the similarities.
Then it's time for Leoleshea to play memory games with Fay Theo Philus. The difference, of course, is that all the cards are shuffled in mid-air, and whoever gets the same cards has to answer the questions honestly.
For example, if Fay gets two “hometown” ” cards, he will answer his birthplace as Leoleshea. Oh, and he can't cheat his way out or Leoleshea will unleash hell on him and the entire world.
By the way, Secretary General Miranda is observing them from a secure room with a hidden camera. The only thing she's worried about is that Fay accidentally angered an old god.
Anyway, it looks like Leoleshea has a matching pair of blank cards, meaning she can ask Fay any question.
And speaking of Leoleshea, she suddenly became angry when the old god asked Fay what his main goal was in getting closer to the old god. God likes her. This is really bad because Leoleshea could destroy the world if Fay answers her question wrong.
Anyway, Fay told Leoleshea that the reason he was here was because he was asked by Miranda to keep an eye on the former god, as well as find out her true origins and motives. Let's hope that Leoleshea accepts his answer.
And to provide proof that he was not lying, Fay presented evidence that he had won 3 games of the gods. By the way, those who win 10 matches will receive a Celebration, which can be whatever they desire.
One last thing, it seems that Leoleshea, or Leshea from now on, wants to regain her divine status by winning the game of the gods with Fay. That was her wish when she received the Celebration.
With that said, let's end this episode as Fay Theo Philus and Leoleshea will travel to another dimension and play the games of the gods there.
Now for my initial thoughts as Kami wa Game ni Ueteiru. There are some similarities to No Game No Life, but the first episode doesn't break the mold so far beyond introducing itself.
Sure there was a genius rookie and a former god working together, but I needed to know more about the games of the gods and why they existed. Are those games a way to predict the future of humanity? Maybe.
Anyway, I'll see you next time when Fay and Leshea will be fighting a giant that's destroying a city. I hope that they survive and win this game!
Oh and one more thing, if an Apostle loses 3 times, they no longer have the right to compete in the game of gods.
