Warning! Contains spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode #9 Despite facing his greatest threat ever, Jujutsu Kaisen is now forcing its heroes to fight without their greatest ally joyous after a shocking twist in the latest episode of the anime. This makes sense from a narrative perspective as Gojo is powerful enough to trivialize most of the threats in the series on his own, but is still surprising given his extreme power level and popularity. .
In Season 2 Episode #9 of Jujutsu Kaisen, the curses were able to carry out their final plan to stop Gojo from interfering with them. After tiring the sorcerer by forcing him to quickly kill a series of transformed humans, Geto appears with a mysterious item known as the Prison Realm. This box can hold Gojo as long as he is mentally incapacitated for one minute, which created Geto’s shocking appearance. Despite Gojo’s immense strength, once he is trapped in the Prison Realm, it seems he is powerless to escape, even when villains taunt him, which shows that the heroes others in the story will now have to fight without him.
Sealing Gojo is terrifying to the heroes of Jujutsu Kaisen
This was an extremely tall order, especially considering the level of enemy strength they faced in Shibuya. While Gojo was able to easily defeat Hanami in that episode, the other Disaster Curses were still free to wreak havoc on a large scale, and each curse had a different destructive potential. Jogo can wield massive amounts of firepower, Mahito can transform into a human with a single touch, and the newest introduction Choso can seemingly manipulate blood. This doesn’t even include the wizard controlling Geto’s body, who can create several other powerful curses to fight at his own will. These villains are also incredibly disturbing in the Jujutsu Kaisen anime, meaning there are no moral limits to what they can do.
With all these powerful threats against them, the good witches may have a difficult time bringing the Shibuya Incident to a happy ending. There are many powerful witches in the series besides Gojo, but they are all separated into different teams and none of them are untouchable. Gojo’s Infinite Technique gave him both powerful offensive and defensive techniques, and no other wizard could match that level of versatility. This leaves them with obvious weaknesses that the Curse can exploit, meaning a large number of them will likely be killed or seriously injured.
The status quo of Jujutsu Kaisen has completely changed
The sealing of Gojo represents a major change in the status quo of the series. Before this point, witches could rely on Gojo to take care of any enemies they deemed too dangerous, which made it a bit difficult for them to deal with dangerous Curses. Now this support is gone and the heroes of Jujutsu Kaisen must fight alone against the series’ extremely powerful enemies.
