Once upon a time, there was a witch named Alyssa who found an abandoned baby with magical powers. Instead of leaving it alone, Alyssa took the baby and named her Viola.
16 years later, Viola grows up to become a beautiful young girl who is mistaken for Alyssa’s mother. Oh yes, it’s true that Alyssa is 200 years old so she’s quite a bit older despite her short appearance.
Anyway, this is Dekoboko Majo no Oyako Jijou, a nice story about a witch mother and her daughter. And seriously, this show stars Nana Mizuki and Aoi Koga so it’s a winner in my book!
Speaking of Viola, although I don’t know why she was abandoned as a child and why she has had a huge magical power inside her body since birth, all I have is It can be said that Viola is quite talented when she summons a phoenix as her pet.
By the way, I’d like to introduce to you both Luna and Giriko, Alyssa’s childhood friends, who actually cared a lot about Viola.
Well, they give her some useful advice like how to get a nice pair of shoes when she grows up, something that Alyssa still lacks even in her old age.
But hey, Luna and Giriko managed to teach Viola some life advice, in which she grew a pair of big breasts… just to indirectly rub salt in Alyssa’s wound.
Don’t worry though because Alyssa is a good mother to Viola, that’s why she becomes a great witch who can do everything.
Oh right, about the phoenix she summoned? It looks like it could grow a neck like a giraffe.
I’m glad Viola was lucky enough to have Alyssa as her mother because things would have been different if she hadn’t received the care of her parents.
By the way, this post has Episodes 1 and 2 where more characters are introduced like Lyra who sells various herbs and other items for witchcraft.
Oh yes, Lyra is quite tired because she exercises a lot. Additionally, Lyra has a love-hate relationship with her sassy son and they often wrestle with each other.
And one more thing, Lyra helped Alyssa become a mother, even though she acted like a drill sergeant back then. But hey, Alyssa owes Lyra a lot.
Now, here’s another character introduced named Fennel, an elf who’s here to get a sack of herbs from Alyssa. Sounds like a nice guy, right?
However, Viola does not keep an eye on her as she sees Fennel as her rival who wants to take Alyssa away from her, thus she tries to poison Fennel with a poisonous flower. Okay, why did Viola try to kill Fennel?
Well, that’s because Fennel knew Alyssa back then. I mean, look at Fennel from 100 years ago, when compared to Alyssa, he was just a snub-nosed boy. Elves have different ages, you know!
But let’s return to the present as Viola invites Fennel to participate in a little game where the prize… is precious photos of Alyssa. Wait, does photography exist in a fantasy world?
But no matter what, Fennel accepts the challenge because he wants a photo of Alyssa, although I doubt he’ll take one because Viola wants to lure him.
And sure enough, Viola lured Fennel when her pet phoenix caught the elf. She’s such a daring witch!
But those are the first two episodes of Dekoboko Majo no Oyako Jijou. It was truly a joy to see a 200+ year old witch like Alyssa take such good care of Viola, and I’m looking forward to more cute moments in the next episode!
