What happened in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode #18?
After regaining control of his body, a nearly dazed Yuji wandered around Shibuya, still processing the large number of people Sukuna had killed. Finally, he comes across Nanami, who after being burned half to death by Jogo is still fighting against a series of transformed people. Unfortunately, Mahito found Nanami first and brutally killed him in front of Yuji. This leads to an interesting fight between Mahito and an extremely angry Yuji. At the same time Nobara encounters a clone of Mahito on the surface and begins her own war against him. While this Shibuya Incident fight isn’t perfect, it’s still incredibly good and keeps the series interesting.
Yuji’s fight against Mahito added some original anime choreography not found in the manga.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode #19 There Will Be Many Battles Against Mahito
Since the battle against Mahito is now being fought on two fronts, much of episode #19 will likely focus on Yuji and Nobara fighting him. This is definitely an important fight and if it receives the same level of focus as the Sukuna fight it could even be one of the best in the series. Also based on his history with Mahito and the recent events in Shibuya, the fight is extremely important to Yuji’s character. If he and Nibara can defeat Mahito here, it will also allow them to get revenge on Nanami while also dealing with an extremely powerful enemy.
Given the importance of the next episode, hopefully behind-the-scenes issues at Studio MAPPA won’t cause its quality to drop. While episode #18 is great, it’s definitely not on par with Sukuna’s battles, which may be due to the grueling schedule the animators had to endure. Hopefully the upcoming Mahito match will take place Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 episode #19 would reach the same heights as the previous battles in the Shibuya Incident.
