Jujutsu Kaisen's ending is one step closer with the release of chapter 268.
The new chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen shows Sukuna being torn from Megumi's body before he dies, freeing the young sorcerer. We also see the end of the long but unseen fight between Hakari and Uraume.
With so many major events crammed into one chapter, readers are bound to feel overwhelmed. However, many complained that the chapter felt rushed and unengaging, starting with Sukuna's ending.
After being separated from Megumi's body, Sukuna was transformed into an insect form and eventually died. We then see Hakari and Uraume stop their battle in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 268.
Both were equally wounded, so it could be said that their fight was far from over. However, sensing Sukuna's death, Uraume committed suicide, ending the fight in an anti-climactic manner.
The rest of the chapter shows Megumi and Nobara receiving letters left by Gojo. The teacher leaves Nobara's mother's information for her, although she says she never questioned it. While with Megumi, he confesses his role in killing his father. The chapter ends with the group going to 'help' Yuta.
Fans felt that none of these developments really fit into the overall picture. It felt rushed and anti-climactic. The only thing they liked about chapter 268 was the reunion of the main trio.
A fan expressed: “All I'm happy about is Megumi's result, but everything else is… bad, unfortunately.”
“I'm about to cry, there's no way nearly a year of anticipation would end with Uraume committing suicide.”another commented.
A fan commented: “There are many ways to end a fight like that, but this way isn't 100%. Is Gege just trying to get through this series quickly?”.
While chapter 268 is getting a lot of criticism, Jujutsu Kaisen still has three more chapters left before its grand finale. Look out for the next chapter on September 1st and the final chapter on September 30th, 2024.
