Yoshihiro Togashi, the famous creator of Hunter x Hunter, recently revealed what could bring the series to an end if he is unable to complete it.
In a recent interview translated by @pew Piece, Togashi sensei discussed three potential endings for Hunter x Hunter, labeled as scenarios A, B, and C.
Additionally, he shared a fourth scenario, scenario D, which he initially considered for the series’ ending but later eliminated from his final options. Togashi’s words on the matter are:
“To give you a clearer picture, I will share scenario D, which is not among the candidate scenarios for the ending. If fate brings me before the end of the manga, consider it the end of the manga. I will be happy if you forgive me for that.”
Before discussing the ending of scenario D, here’s what we know about the remaining three scenarios:
Scenario A: This ending may satisfy half of the readers but the other half may not like it very much. The author believes that this ending will not cause too much noise or make people too uncomfortable.
Scenario B: This ending will also receive mixed reactions. Some people will like it, and some won’t.
Scenario C: This ending is the one the author personally likes best, although he suggests that most others might like it as well. don’t like it very much.
Togashi also mentioned the possibility of choosing a completely different ending which he found most interesting.

End of Hunter x Hunter story:
The revealed ending, scenario D, shifts the focus from the main characters to Jin, who is said to be a descendant of Gon, possibly his grandson, although this is not explicitly stated.
Jin’s story begins similarly to Gon’s, with her fishing next to a lake and capturing the Lake Lord. However, unlike Gon, she shows no interest in becoming a Hunter.
By the lake, a girl named Jin, holding a fishing rod, stood motionless. Suddenly, the stick shook violently, and a startled Jin cried out: “I got him! I have captured Lord Ho!” She deftly lifted Lord Ho onto her shoulders and stood before a woman and said: “As I promised, I have captured Lord Ho! Mom!”Jin approached the woman and passionately declared: “You can’t talk back to me. You must become a hunter.”
Jin’s mother seems to want Jin to become a Hunter, like her grandfather, Gon. However, Jin’s dream is to never leave the island. Jin’s father also seems to be a laid-back person and doesn’t mind Jin’s life choices.
Jin’s mother blamed that it was because of Mito and Noko’s blood that she did not want to become a hunter.
This seems to confirm that Gon will marry Noko in the future. In case you don’t know, Noko is the only child on Whale Island, the same age as Gon. They played together and Gon also mentioned her to Killua when they first met.
The woman no longer had any tricks left and nodded. Jin, still carrying Lord Ho on his shoulders, walked away. The mother told her husband that Jin’s dream was to never leave the island and inherit their position. The father agreed, laughing loudly, and the mother expressed her displeasure and said: “Maybe her wishes will change in the future. But I want to know, you and Jin, why are you like this? Surely it is because of the blood of Mrs. Mito and Mrs. Noko.
The woman seemed unaware that Mrs. Mito and Mrs. Noko were not related, and the father smiled knowingly. The woman expressed her unwillingness to become a mother and added: “But grandfather Gon is a famous hunter… and this girl will one day leave the island.”
Jin affirmed: “I will never leave!” Even though she was no longer in the middle of the forest, she still heard her parents’ conversation and responded defiantly. The father said excitedly: “You have sharp eyes.”
The scene changes to the shop continuing its work from Mito’s days. The Lake Lord has been neatly cut and its internal parts have been sorted. Jin thought to himself while working: “Mom will never understand.
As Grandpa happily recounted his memories as a hunter, Grandma Noko quietly left her seat. Every time Mr. Gon affirmed, her belief was heard by others. She used a knife to hit the cutting board hard (I’m so tired of this!!) waiting for someone to return after many years of sadness tearing my heart apart… I made a noise waiting for me! I. Then the door opened and a warm voice rang out. A chubby child walked in holding a tree.
The child exclaimed: “I have really captured Lord Ho! Well, let’s glorify the whole island with it! Jin replied: “I always… always want to be with the person I want to be with. Together, always! The child agreed: “Okay!” Both of them smiled brightly while cooking food. A bird flew off the island, flying over a town and its people.
One person’s son, another person’s daughter and another person’s grandchildren live in different places, exchanging smiles. They can be that character’s children and that character’s grandchildren. The bird flew away.
In the background there is a figure observing the scene.
It’s important to note that the aforementioned ending, scenario D, is no longer a viable option as Togashi has set it aside in favor of other possibilities.
However, if circumstances prevent Togashi from completing the manga, this sketched ending will serve as a backup plan, marking how the Hunter x Hunter story could end.
Yoshihiro Togashi will discuss this ‘Abandoned Ending’ of Hunter x Hunter, known as scenario D, on TV Asahi’s Iwakura and Yoshizumi Show. This particular segment is scheduled to air on November 21, 2023, according to modelpress.
Hunter x Hunter creator Yoshihiro Togashi has suffered from severe back pain for many years, a medical condition that has led to numerous interruptions in the manga’s publication.
Despite fervent requests from fans for Togashi sensei to delegate drawing responsibilities to another artist while overseeing the story, the author remained committed to personally illustrating the manga.
