The good folks from Anime Limited have sent us details about the upcoming screening of Godzilla Minus One/Minus Color.. The black and white version of the hugely successful Godzilla film will appear in cinemas across across the UK and Ireland from Friday 1 November 2024. Both the original Minus One and the much-requested Godzilla Minus One/Minus Color will be released in time to celebrate Godzilla Day.
Godzilla Day falls on November 3 every year to commemorate the original 1954 film.

London, UK, October 21, 2024-Godzilla will return to cinemas! After overwhelming demand from audiences as well as theaters, Anime Limited and Toho Co. Ltd is organizing one Godzilla Day very special – marking the series' 70th anniversary by giving fans the opportunity The kaiju experience that changed cinema forever was in black and white, just as audiences first witnessed its destruction in 1954. That's right-GODZILLA MINUS ONE/MINUS COLOR Highly demanded, an alternative version of the Academy Award™-winning global thriller, premieres in cinemas across the UK and Ireland for the first time alongside the original film from Friday November 1st!
The latest film in Toho's classic film series, GODZILLA MINUS ONE was created to be the most terrifying incarnation of the character, returning the series to its post-war roots with a powerful and poignant story of a Japan gripped by the powerlessness of having lost all before this new, terrible threat appeared. The film received critical acclaim and broke many box office records in the UK and Ireland upon release, including the biggest opening day for a Japanese film (live-action and animated) in over 23 years. The film became a worldwide phenomenon, culminating in GODZILLA MINUS ONE won Best Visual Effects at the 96th Academy Awards, becoming the first non-English language film to win the award. GODZILLA MINUS ONE/MINUS COLOR presents the original film in an edited black-and-white version personally supervised by director Takashi Yamazaki.

Celebrated annually on November 3, Godzilla Day celebrates the day the original 1954 film created a cinematic monster recognized around the world. This year, fans are invited to start the celebration early in theaters!
Summary:
In post-war Japan, Godzilla brings new devastation to an already burned-out landscape. Without military intervention or government help, the survivors must unite in the face of despair and fight against the unrelenting horror. From acclaimed director, screenwriter and VFX visionary Takashi Yamazaki (The Eternal Zero, Stand By Me Doremon) comes Godzilla Minus One, a film about the strength of family in the face of despair. The film stars Ryunosuke Kamiki, Minami Hamabe, Yuki Yamada, Munetaka Aoki, Hidetaka Yoshioka, Sakura Ando and Kuranosuke Sasaki, with music by Naoki Sato.
GODZILLA MINUS ONE/MINUS COLOR and GODZILLA MINUS ONE will both release in Japanese with English subtitles from Friday November 1.
