Girls Band Cry is a rock band-themed youth drama that premiered in Japan on April 5 (i.e., April 6 at 12:30 a.m. JST). The anime is part of a project of the same name, announced in April 2023 and includes animated music videos and singles.
Toei Animation describes the story setting of Girls Band Cry as:
The main character drops out of high school in his second year and aims to enter a university while working alone in Tokyo. A girl is betrayed by her friends and doesn't know what to do. Another girl was abandoned by her parents and tried to survive in the city by working a part-time job. This world always disappoints us. Nothing goes as planned. But we want something we can continue to enjoy. We believe there is a place where we belong. That's why we sing.
Recently, it was revealed that Girls Band Cry will have a collaboration with karaoke chain Big Echo from May 3 to June 30, with five stores participating to host an exhibition featuring footage from the anime and Collaborative drink menu.
