With last week's episode ending on a pretty big cliffhanger, it's no surprise that it didn't take long for things to start escalating in this matter, but first: we have a Another random short to start things off. This is basically just Wendy and Carla being worried about a bug in their room before Erza shows up and destroys their entire dorm in a failed attempt to exterminate it. That…basically the whole joke. I really enjoyed Erza flashing her murderous eyes in this arc, but otherwise this arc was pretty forgettable compared to the previous arcs.
Luckily, the episode actually sags a bit there, and sure enough, it seems like the White Mage's attempt to seal the Wood Dragon by destroying the orbs only made the situation worse. worse. We learn from all the townspeople that the orbs were actually the cause of limiting his powers, and now that they've been destroyed, it's causing him to reawaken, while all those who lived on his back were reabsorbed into his body, as they were. was never truly human in the first place. All of this is completely out of left field for the White Mage, and it seems she was tricked into causing this by an unknown party. While this has not been confirmed to be true, it is implied that Moon God Dragon is the one pulling her strings and that she has her own agenda, which seems to involve viewing the world as distorted . It's all good, but it also just reminds me how unclear the White Mage's motives behind sealing powerful magic users are, and while there's a lot of mystery here to ponder, I hope that we will at least understand that. answered before the rest of this section was finished.
In the meantime, it looks like we're at least done with the whole subplot about freeing the guild from her possession as when Naruto and Wendy return to confront her, they learn that the roar since Wood Shen Long's awakening seems to have canceled her magic. Wendy also attempted to use her separation magic to separate Touka from the White Mage, and while the others were content to leave her fate up to hers, Naruto decided to take her go with them. In most other cases, I would probably complain about this being a rather counterintuitive way to deal with the White Mage turning the guild into her personal cult, but as I've said in a few posts most recent review, I feel like this storyline it started to wear out its welcome a few episodes ago and at this point, I'm happy to be done with it. I also won't lie that I laughed quite a bit at Laxus's literal “who did this?” coming out of it wondering how Erza got beaten up, and Mirajane has vague memories of being attacked by Gray so I'm glad we at least got some good stories throughout set of agreements.
The rest of the episode mainly just revolves around dealing with the immediate threat of the Wood God Dragon as he begins sending out creatures called God Seeds that can read a person's mind and transform into the strongest person they can think of. For Gray's group, that meant facing off against a Gildarts clone, but in Naruto's case, he somehow…got Happiness. For some reason he was completely unfazed by this even after receiving the explanation that the clone was based on a strong person, which I guess means Naruto thinks quite highly of This little guy? I have to say it was heartwarming, but by Naruto's own admission, this was the second time today he'd punched him, so he certainly didn't have any real worries going into the fight. fight him. However, when the God Seed tried to read his mind again, it instead transformed into Zeref, which seemed like it could cause even worse problems than everything else going on right now. Obviously this was exactly what Natsu had planned, but what exactly said plan was was anyone's guess. Maybe he'll try to take advantage of the whole killing curse to kill all the tree people or something? The possibility was uncanny and while I wasn't sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see how it all played out, I was so curious that it kept my attention while we waited for an answer.
