The image of a female demon with a white face and creepy eyes in a nun’s costume has made millions of people obsessed but also excited, creating many stormy trends.
So what’s so special about The Nun series, and what innovations will this new project have to “surpass” the terrible record that part 1 once set?
The Origin of The Conjuring Horror Universe

Not the first movie of The Conjuring Horror Universe, but The Nun is the film that marks the earliest time (if you ignore the flashy episode in 1943 in the movie Annabelle) to the present. The Nun is set in 1952 in Romania, at a time when a church encounters strange supernatural phenomena. A nun at this church has mysteriously committed suicide, as have many others who have disappeared. Receiving orders from the Vatican, parish priest Burke and a novice nun named Irene, as well as a commoner named Frenchie, came to this church to investigate and solve. Since then, the two have encountered a terrifying evil, appearing in the form of a nun. During many nights here, the characters are constantly intimidated and overpowered by the devil, in which Irene is constantly challenged to her faith.
Fortunately, in the end, Irene defeated the evil Valak, temporarily returning peace to the Romanian countryside. However, the final scene of The Nun shows that Valak has not been completely destroyed. The timeline moves to 1971, when the guy Frenchie becomes the subject of an exorcism by the Warrens. Most likely, Valak “borrowed” Frenchie’s body to return, leading to The Nun 2’s release in 2023 and of course the fiery encounter between Valak and Lorraine later in The Conjuring 2.

Many interesting changes, Valak is back too powerful
Back in 2023, part 2 of The Nun brings many new and different points for the audience, from the context, time to the whole cast of characters. Of course, the film will still keep some important characters such as the villain Valak, Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga) and the guy Frenchie (Jonas Bloquet) or originally named Maurice, who is also Valak’s new “vessel” after part 1. Reverend Burke regrets not being involved in this case, because Sister Irene has officially “escaped” her probationary life and has had the opportunity to take charge of a case herself.
This is demonstrated in Sister Irene’s outfit in The Nun 2, which has turned black, not white as before. Besides, the film’s context also belongs to 4 years from part 1, moving from Romania to France, no longer in a church but at a seminary. If in part 1, a nun died because of Valak’s oppression, in this part, the victim is a priest. In addition, in the trailer, the audience can clearly see that Valak is more powerful than before, with many scary scares and a twice as cunning image.

The Nun 2 promises to break the all-time record of part 1
Back in 2018, The Nun became a global hit with an impressive box office for a horror film. The film earned $ 365.6 million worldwide with only $ 22 million in fees, becoming the most “swordfish” project in the whole The Conjuring Horror Universe to date. The Deadline page estimates The Nun brought in for Warner Bros. profit of $155 million (after removing all expenses).
In Vietnam, The Nun has established an unbelievable revenue record on the first day of its release, earning up to VND 13.5 billion. After 3 days, the film easily reached the milestone of 46 billion VND, causing many cinemas to “break up” and have to open more slots until 1 am. Therefore, The Nun part 2 is highly anticipated, predicted by many review sites to continue to “sweep” the Vietnamese film market and set up many new impressive achievements.

THE NUN II – The Devil is scheduled to premiere on September 8, 2023 in Vietnam.
