Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods is expected to return to theaters in October to celebrate the film’s 10th anniversary.
The film will be shown in select theaters and will include not only an English dub but also a special extended version of the film. The film is an important part of the franchise timeline as it reboots certain events and makes Dragon Ball GT non-canon. After the Buu Saga, the series “stopped” until the next anime came out, but it did not receive as much love as the previous series. Then the live-action adaptation came out but franchise creator Akira Toriyama wasn’t happy with it, so he revived the property again through Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods.

That led to many things, including a second movie featuring Frieza and the beginning of Dragon Ball Super. They even retold two “prequel” movie plots in the new anime but with expanded storylines and new content. Without Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, none of this would exist. In the movie, fans get to know a man known as Lord Beerus and his assistant, Whis. Beerus is the God of Destruction and his goal is to keep the universe “balanced” and “eliminate” races too weak to survive.
Finally, he had a vision of who he felt would be the legendary enemy, the one known as the “Super Saiyan God”. This leads him to Earth, where he finds Goku, Vegeta, and the rest of the Z-Fighters. As viewers discover, Vegeta knows Beerus and knows his power level. Despite the Z-Fighters’ best efforts, they were unable to stop Beerus, but Goku, with help from others, was able to unlock his Super Saiyan God form and clash with Beerus for survival. Earth.
