Warning: spoilers of Dragon Ball Super chap 96 Hope fans consider it Super Dragon BallThe Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie prequel became an unnecessary spin-off in part because Goten and Trunks confusedly adopted their own version of Gohan’s Saiyaman identity for their own use. However, the current adaptation of the film from the manga has just corrected a key scene that now fully justifies the second generation of the great Saiyaman in the prequel.
In the original Superhero movie, Goten and Trunks battle the newly awakened Cell Max by merging into Gotenks. However, in chapter 96 of Dragon Ball Super, Trunks and Goten take on the identities of Saiyaman X-1 and X-2 respectively and attack Cell Max. This is apparently completely exclusive to the manga as Saiyaman X-1 and X-2 did not exist at the time Super Hero was released.
Saiyaman X-1 and X-2 meet the “end of the book”
Although Gotenks is a fun character (especially when the fusion fails), the decision to let Goten and Trunks assume their secret superhero identities instead of merging in the Superhero adaptation has justifies the introduction of them in the prequel as both instances are now satisfying. the book ends. If Goten and Trunks had just become Gotenks, their runaway as Saiyaman X-1 and X-2 in the prequel would have been nothing more than a terrifying call to an unpopular moment in the series. Dragon Ball Z. Fortunately, it’s much more than that. This is especially true since the current installment has mostly adapted the film with little or no edits, so any deviation is a welcome development for obvious reasons.
However, even before this latest retcon, the Saiyaman X-1 and X-2 have not been completely rejected by fans. The fact that Goten and Trunks’ secret identities were influenced by a fictional superhero from their world fittingly complements Dr. Hedo’s appreciation for superheroes and the creation of the android Gamma his hero then in Super Hero. By incorporating new versions of the superhero Saiyaman into the movie’s prequel story called Super Hero, the manga fits in well with the overall superhero theme.
The fateful tragic ending of Saiyaman X-1 and X-2
Of course, it’s very likely that Saiyaman X-1 and X-2 will lose to Cell Max. In fact, it must. Considering the fact that Gotenks’ failure in the movie allows Gohan to achieve his Beast form, there is no choice but for Goten and Trunks not to defeat Cell Max if the manga plans to turn Beast Gohan into a canon.
However, their loss won’t diminish Saiyaman X-1 and X-2’s roles in supporting the prequel and actual adaptation of the Superhero movie. In fact, it might even help Goten And Trunk realize that no iteration of Saiyaman is effective and this will be good news for critics of X-1 and X-2 because it means no more antics in the series. Super Dragon Ball.
