The film The Sand Land of Sunrise, Anima and Kamikaze Douga is adapted from the 2000 manga of the same name by Akira Toriyama. The story is set on a desolate planet where natural disasters and war have wiped out nearly every viable source of water. Prior to the film’s release, the manga received a highly requested English reprint from VIZ Media.
Toshihisa Yokoshima, who is best known for Tales of Crestoria-The Wake of Sin, will direct Sand Land. Hayashi Mori (Cells at Work! Code Black, Drifting Home) is writing the script for the film. Mutsumi Tamura (Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans) and Kazuhiro Yamaji (One-Punch Man) play Beelzebub and Rao, respectively. Chafurin, who played Inspector Megure in Detective Conan, was cast as the King. Earlier this week, Toho unveiled the “Akira Toriyama World” commercial, which provides a rough look at what audiences can expect from Sand Land.
