Genya Shinazugawa’s character introduced an impressive new tool for slaying demons in the latest episode of Demon Slayer.
The third episode of Demon Slayer in the “Swordsmith Village” arc sees the anime unveil Genya’s personal weapon, a Nichirin shotgun. This unique instrument resembles a Western double-barreled shotgun and is used for long-range and close-range attacks. It can decapitate demons, similar to the Nichirin sword, a trick Genya used to his advantage in a recent episode titled “The Sword From Over 300 Years Ago.” This ferocious tool will be Genya’s main tool in the battle against the superior demons.
Demon Slayers are exclusively used to swords… Until now
Before the series introduced guns, the only way for Demon Slayers to kill demons was to expose them to sunlight or use a Nichirin sword made by the village swordsmith. However, this weapon can deal the same damage as these tools by using specific ingredients in the sheath. Scarlet Crimson Iron Sand and Scarlet Ore, both necessary in making Nichirin blades, make ammunition. Genya also carries a smaller Nichirin sword to finish off his enemies if guns aren’t enough.
The first season of the chapter introduced Genya, Wind Hashira’s younger brother Sanemi Shinazugawa, during which he ran into the main character, Tanjiro Kamado, after the Final Selection exam. There, they will encounter a minor physical conflict, with Genya breaking his arm during the exchange. He then appears in Butterfly Mansion, passing by the protagonist again. This character plays a much more important role in the “Swordsmith Village” installment, replacing Zenitsu and Inouske as main supports for Tanjiro, along with Hashira Love Mitsuji Kanroji and Hashira Muichiro Tokito of the Mist.
Demon Slayer’s action-packed episode
The latest episode of the anime adaptation of Ufotable continues to impress fans, as the action rises to the top along with revealing the diabolical menace in the village. Tanjiro, Nezuko, Genya, and Tokito begin a battle against Hantengu, Muzan Kibutsuji’s fourth-rate subordinate, and discover just how dangerously powerful this enemy is. This chapter also sees the return of Tajiro’s own swordsmith, Hotaru Haganezuka, who promised to improve the sword Tanjiro found in the previous volume after his harsh training regimen.
Demon Slayer is available to watch in full on Crunchyroll, with the next episode scheduled to release on Sunday, April 30, 2023.
